Concensus preference on glass cleaner
1 Attachment(s)
Hello,
Got my C8 a couple of weeks ago. Exceeds expectations in every way. Need to have products on hand to clean windows inside and out, including engine window. Is there any concensus on best product for window cleaning? I usually just use windex, but thought I’d check with the group. Also, can I use the same window cleaner on the regular windows and the engine window, or does the engine window need something special? TIA https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...de4d22dfb.jpeg |
Just plain old glass, soak her with Windex, just fine. Tip, sit in the trunk and when the hatch is all the way up, push up more and it will go a fair amount higher to the stops, makes cleaning easier yet.

A good towel makes all the difference, trust me. I use Adams Glass Cleaner. It doesn't streak. I buy
it by the gallon to use around the house. These are the best glass towels I've used: The Rag Company - Standard Waffle Weave Microfiber Towels (2-Pack) Detailing, Window, Glass and Drying, Wax & Polish, Lint-Free, Streak-Free, 370gsm, 16in x 24in, Royal Blue |
Stoners in the aerosol can for all of my C8 glass. Don't use paper towels which have paraffin wax in them and will streak the glass. Use MF towels, switching to a clean side often.

Stoner Invisible Glass aerosol plus Invisible Glass Clean & Reach tool. Makes cleaning the coupe partition & hatch glass really easy.
You can get both at just about any big box retail store, auto parts store, Amazon, eBay, etc. |

Stoner invisible glass.

I used to use Stoner aerosol. Now I use Sprayway.

Clean water. Apply liberally with a microfiber towel. Scrub. Dry with a waffle weave towel. Use vertical wiping on the exterior. Use horizontal wiping on the interior. If you spot a defect/streak you know which side it’s on. Easy to fix.

I have been told that most of the foaming aerosol glass cleaners are made by the same company. I don't know if that is true, but I've had good luck with each of them I have tried. I buy Stoner when I can get it, but I've used other brands with equal results. I use glass specific microfiber towels and only use them for the glass. I believe the towel is as important as the cleaner.

It's all in the towel, but if you get your windows tinted make sure whatever you use doesn't have ammonia in it. It will damage the tint.

I've been using Griot's. For quite a while I used their FOAMING glass cleaner. Until I ran out.. I also use their squirt bottle WINDOW cleaner, but I like the foam better. I recently tried their FOAMING CERAMIC cleaner. I put in the the FiST (Fiesta ST) because I wanted to see if it left "streaky residue" (you know, right after the wiper make a pass and you see haze for a moment. Or not) So far so good but I haven't yet put it on the C8. It's supposed to leave a slick coating.... Jury is still out.
All that said I had WURTH glass cleaner on my Christmas list. It came so late that my sister didn't give it to me at Christmas. But when it came she decided to try it on her apartment windows. She called me to tell me she's keeping it, I can go get my own. It has been highly recommended on other auto fora. |
I've been waxing my windows, inside and out, for 40 years. Leno's Radiant ceramic spray gives a streak free surface.

The best i found is a 50-50 mix of distilled water and isopropyl alcohol In a spray bottle. Doesn’t streak dries almost instantly . I’ve tried all the over-the-counter stuff This mix work's the best.carl
