Hit A Box On Highway

Was just cruising after looking at a new Rivian that was being wrapped in PPF, nice truck for EV lovers. Was on a 2 lane each side Hwy I was in left lane another vehicle slightly ahead of me. We went around a bend and darn a truck had 2 boxes fly off the back. We both hit a box as for me to my left was a concrete divider and hit lower right, box about 18” high. Not sure what was in it but it tore away much of my extreme splash guard on right front. On the PPF some light scratches and those self healed. A photo as I will need to order a replacement.

That sucks, but hopefully superficial. The other day some plastic looking thing was sort of floating in the air on a highway and I couldn't avoid it. Wrapped around my driver side mirror. Turned out to be some sort of fiberglass sheeting. Top was down so my instinct was to just remove it from the mirror and toss it, but then I'm probably worse than the person who's vehicle cargo it fell off of, so I pulled it into the car and threw it out when I got home. Now that I mention it. I never even looked to see if it scratched the mirror or quarter panel or door... Maybe I don't want to look.

Yeah, that sucks but it could have been much worse.

Yes, terrible experience, but could have been MUCH worse.

Sorry to see the damage, but sure glad it was relatively minor.

That splash guard saved you from some possible body damage.

So I am driving on a 3 lane freeway in fairly heavy traffic when I see a 5-gallon plastic bucket in the road. It's empty and bouncing around as cars hit it but it's not in my lane so not worried. Then the car to my right hits it and it sails into the air, bounces off my passenger A-pillar and flies behind me over my car. Because I hit the side of the bucket, it did not damage the paint but scared the hell out of me.

There are so many hazards out there that almost anything can happen at any time.

Was driving in my other ride last week (a Land Rover) and the truck in front of me dropped an air conditioner! I hit the brakes pretty quickly…

Lucky you didn’t get rear ended.

I hit a pickup cap with my wife’s SHO. Did some damage but not as much as you’d think. It sort of went airborne when I hit it and shot off the road. I hit a big tank of some kind (LP?) with my pickup on I-94 at speed. Same deal. It shot off the road, did no damage. But a Vette ? The hood could shoot it right into your windshield.

https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...e9cb10723.jpegI must have hit something with my front left rock guard. My dealer replaced it under warranty. Super great dealership and I didn’t expect that and I didn’t buy my C8R there.

It looks like that saved any further damage to the car!

It's amazing the amount of crap that's on the highways.

I'm still waiting for a Brinks truck to lose some stuff out the back in front of me.

Brinks is smart enough to use a closed van.

In my opinion the use of open cargo (i.e. pickup beds) should be banned. The US seems to be the only developed country where people have to avoid shit like this on the roads. Does anyone think people are driving down the autobahn trying to dodge AC units falling off pickup trucks?
