Z06 Makes 640WHP on DynoJet

Wow! This was at Fab Speed they are making their first system with his car. Still watching video to see if he gets the exhaust done in this video or not.

Edit: For those who dont like to watch youtube they didnt get the exhaust on in this video it was just the baseline Dyno run.

640 rwhp is incredible. That's over 700hp crank!

gsxriannew 12-04-2022 09:45 PM

.... so why is the trap speed so low?

94Lt1Vette 12-04-2022 09:51 PM

40 more than Speed Phenom. Would SAE smoothing 1 vs 5 account for that? That’s a huge difference.

Aero and terrible gearing would be my guess. One can be fixed (gearing) and the other can be improved upon.(active aero)

Time for a google doc tracking dyno horsepower results by engine builder haha

AustinVetter 12-04-2022 09:54 PM

What would be really interesting is if Austin and this guy could get their cars dyno'd at same place, same time so we can see if there is a big variance in engines or simply in dyno's and atmospheric conditions.

And customer requests for specific builders to build their engines! :) Or worse, GM adds a "Select your engine builder" option for $5,000.

I always kind of thought it would be funny if certain builders engines ended up with a reputation for higher or lower than typical power numbers and if it would impact the resale of those cars haha

I'm very curious to see if they make any real gains with their new exhaust/straight pipe system. They are confident it will pick up some decent horsepower which would be surprising on this NA motor.

Mike Ward and his famous signature strikes again!

Is this Std or SAE? I couldn't see it on the video...

SAE smoothing 1

Great question hopefully a more knowledgeable person can chime in.

I agree this would be best case scenario.

Im very excited to see this as well. They referenced Mclaren gains but we know how the computer is in the Stingray. Im doubtful but hopeful at the same time. Bottom line is there already seems to be a trend of underrated crank power by GM. We need more of these beasts in the right hands.

If this car got the right gearing, it will perform very well with the base aero.. very sad 😞 they missed up the gearing

My money is on 670 hp at the crank and around 600 whp. I think this dyno needs a calibration.

Base aero still only traps ~131...Hard to be slippery when you have a bunch of big gaping holes feeding all those radiators.

And if it had the "right gearing" it probably wouldn't be street legal because of the EPA.... Everyone seems to not figure out that it's the most powerful NA V8 ever... That comes at a fuel efficiency cost. Can't just throw a ton of short gears in there to average 8mpg as much as we'd love it.

That is not what that means. All it means is that dyno showed that number. There is another video where a dynamic shows a different number. The engine makes 670 hp just as advertised. These engines are SAE certified, they cannot underrated them. So many people don't understand this.
