Where did you buy your car from?

There's so many options these days, I was curious where everyone bought their car? A dealer? An online retailer? Private sale? The forum? Did you have an issues? Lets hear your story.

I've owned 7 Corvettes, although I don't own one right now. I bought all 7 of them from a Chevy dealer. 4 of them were new cars, 3 of them were used cars. 3 of the 4 new cars were bought from 3 different dealers, all locally or nearby.

No issues with any of them.

Those purchases were spread over 45 years.

I scouted for awhile and ended up settling on one I found on Auto Trader that was at a Chevy dealer a couple states away.
While I regret letting my emotions get the best of me and not being 100% happy with the deal, I absolutely love the car for what it is.

I documented my pickup too, so I can cherish the experience/mistake forever. Hahaha *insert shameless plug*

Another new car (THIS TIME IT’S THE ONE YOU WANT TO SEE!)

I found mine on line at a Chevy dealership in Colorado that sells many Corvettes (I'm in Montana) Once I had all my questions answered and we agreed on a price, I flew down there to look it over on the pretense that if I saw something I didn't like about the car, I'd fly back home. The car ended up being everything they said it was, so we finished the transaction, and I drove it back to Montana. The dealership I bought it from is in Ft. Lupton Colorado, which is N.E. of Denver aways, they were very nice, and picked me up at the airport and drove me to the dealership where the car was. It was a very pleasant, and hassle free transaction, plus I had a nice road trip home to get the feel of the car.

Through CarGurus, I found mine here: Classic Motor Cars (Lubbock TX)

In July 2021, I bought a 2013 1SC 427 Convertible with the 60th Anniversary graphics and interior, in addition to the ZR1 wheels, with 1,400 miles.

I had a good sense of what the car was worth before I called them. They sent me a walkaround video and I thanked them. They called me after a few days and offered me a lowered price good for a week. It was a fair price in my opinion so I drove out, picked it up, and drove it home.

I paid cash. They were absolutely no nonsense whatsoever. It was a very easy experience.

I bought mine from a private party. The 78 year old original owner. He had just bought a new 2014 C7 and did not have room for his beloved C6. I was the lucky guy who found his ad on Cars.com. It was the exact car I wanted. Color, interior, options, wheels. Everything. And it was less than an hour drive from my house. That was 8 years ago. Trouble free fun ever since.

Purchased from this forum in 2013.

I bought my low mile 09 in August 2021. I researched and knew exactly what I wanted - must haves and no ways. I checked internet daily for about a month until mine showed up. I bought it from a large used car dealership that generally specializes in performance and high end vehicles - had some Lamborghinis, Ferraris, BMWs, Porches, etc. The price was very much in line with year, trim, miles, and condition. The salesman I dealt with was pleasant, knowledgeable, patient, helpful, and no pressure. It was a smooth and enjoyable buying experience. I had my car checked over this past summer at a local (an hour away - I live in the sticks) Chevy dealership that focuses on Corvettes for an oil change. Everything good. I’ve had a year and a half of happy, trouble free ownership. This summer along with the oil change I’m getting all new tires and have all the fluids changed. It will be my new 14 year old car.

Best of luck finding your corvette.

Bought my C6 from Tommy in 2012.

Thanks buddy. I actually had to rewatch some of my first Vette videos to remember all the angst I had when I first got it. Hahaha.

All three of mine were found as low mileage garage queens at a car dealer. One that dealt in used creampuffs, the other two were at a Chevrolet dealer.

Private seller on Craigslist one state over from me in PA.

Conchie13215 01-12-2023 09:55 PM

Purchased my 08 from a forum member. After a few private messages we got in touch and the deal was made in 10 minutes.
Beautiful drive to Pennsylvania to pick it up. I didn’t even go crazy overlooking the car, it was exactly how he described. Car has ran perfect for the last 3 years.
This is my third corvette and my favorite, although I wish I had my old c5z sitting next to it.

I bought mine from a Mercedes dealer a few states away, it was on FB marketplace, I gave him a deposit over the phone and went and looked at the car and bought it. They gave me a temporary registration and said that they would take care of registering it in my state. That was a big mistake, they screwed that up and it took 3 months to register it. Next time I would have taken the tittle and done it myself. I love the care though and everything else about the deal was great.

Private seller in Albuquerque, NM. Found it on CL using Autotempest. Seller was super cool and easy to deal with. I didn’t even negotiate because it was everything wanted and it had only 7855 miles on it.

I picked mine up at a Buick GMC in the state of Delaware. I flew into a nearby airport, I live in Ohio, and drove it back 7 hours away. After watching the market for months, I decided to pull the trigger.

I watched your video and was laughing when you were talking about the aux cord not working right. Mine didn’t even have one and thought that I was missing out. Putting in a new deck is the first mod I did to the car. I’m surprised. you didn’t have the pricing figured out before going to take delivery.

You’re right about these cars and electronics. You have to know what you’re doing. No regrets on my purchase.

I ordered my '08 from Les Stanford Chevrolet in MI. When it arrived from the factory, my wife and I flew into Detroit and finished the paperwork/payment. It took 30 days to get home to Phoenix, because we wandered around the East and South coasts, through 15 States for 5500 miles just to enjoy the new car on the first of many road trips.

CorvetteSparky 01-13-2023 12:49 AM

The last one I found on ebay and bought from a private party. The one before that was from a forum member so that too weas from a private party. Both cars were as advertised with no issues. Both cars were bought out of state and the forum seller let me use his license plate on the car to get it home. I did the same when selling that car here on the forum. It saves the hassle of a trip permit.

First time from a dealer, experienced typical dealer stuff but it was expected. Second time from private party, in N Carolina. I flew there, owner met me and the car checked out. We went to courthouse together and did necessary paperwork. I paid him and drove home 500 miles, it was a great experience.
