At this point why would you sell?

I have a 2008 coupe, Victory Red, which I've put many hours into perfecting.

Its a manual, upgraded DSvettes leather throughout. Really dialed in.

I'll tell you friends, I have tried to find an upgrade, after all of these years.

But nothing can replace it. Flawless vehicle.

Perhaps my problem is I also have a Cayenne manual, which fills the German gap. But man, really, C6 is the boss hog.

Nothing new can come out that replaces it either.

Well said. Timeless design and still a head turner after all these years. I love the C6

Iceaxe 01-25-2023 10:56 PM

Performance per dollar spent I can't think of a better vehicle than a C6 Corvette. 👍🇺🇲🏁

BluegrassMotorsport 01-25-2023 11:11 PM

Funny you should ask because I've been asking myself the same question recently. I've had my C6 nearly four years which is a long time for me since I trade daily drivers about once a year. So the thought crossed my mind that it might be time to try something new. But what?

I've lusted after a C8 since they were released until I finally had the opportunity to drive one. And honestly, it was pretty boring. Fast... but in a boring way. There's no drama and it certainly isn't as fun as the M6 in my Vette. I also love the C7 but the price difference between what I'd want and what I have is at least $12-15k and is that worth it for something only marginally faster? My C6 already has more power than I'll ever use on the street and I'm not local to any track.

I've thought about a lot of others cars outside the Corvette, too. I really want to try a Porsche but the used market is very proud of the 911. I like the Cayman too but a manual S or GTS is C7 GS money and they're much slower. I also really like the Camaro LT1 but even a fabulous chassis isn't enough to hide its weight. Early model Audi R8s are coming down to reasonable prices but the maintenance costs can be scary if you don't find one that's been loved.

So in the end I always come back to the Vette. And truthfully what I think I'd be most happy in is another C6, but this time in ZR1 form. So I'm going to watch the market for a while on those and see what happens. Being one of the last of their kind, I don't see them coming down much. And in the meantime, I'm going to continue enjoying the heck out of my M6 GS.

Well you're missing the pictures, the interior upgrade too. C6 for the win.

Mr Haberman13,

It's funny you should post this. My 07 C6 3LT (Monterrey Red, Cashmere interior) was built to my specs late 2006. I too have extensively modified the interior with leather (to include the DS leather door panels, dash, console, Apsis all over the place) components. The leather smell inside is terrific. Mine now is more like the later 4LTs but with (a lot more) added leather. I've also replaced all interior and many exterior lights with LEDs. Haven't touched the headlights because I've always found them to be incredibly bright as is. Having a VW Passat turbodiesel as my DD and my wife having a new VW Arteon (both really nice, and QUICK) I also have a thing for German cars. I've looked for several years at Porsche Caymans, drove a base Cayman and a Cayman S and came away from both with the impression that while they're nice, they both were not as nice as my Vette. The base was all plastic - not all that much leather. The S rode really hard, more like a Z06 which I felt rode too hard for what I wanted. No HUD, either, and I use my HUD only constantly. I've also looked at a bunch of Mercedes. Build quality on the Porsches and Mercedes is excellent, no doubt.

My Vette, surprisingly to me, has been the most reliable car I've ever owned. (I'm knocking on wood as I type this!)

Love the big 'ole gauges in the C6, too. I find it's exactly the best balance of tech and old school stuff for me.

I still look at Hemmings et al just for grins and giggles, but every time I think about selling my Vette I go into the garage and just sit in her, and think "NO WAY."

So I'm right there with you!

Mike

16 years and 101,000 miles......with no desire for a change. Never owned a car even close to this long.

C6 Widebody’s, no words necessary 😎

EVERY TIME I take my '05 out it puts a smile on my face, EVERY TIME! For that reason alone I have no desire to replace it...plus it still turns heads!

Iowa 01-26-2023 07:07 AM

I've got an 07 base that I bought last year. Seriously considering buying a widebody c6 and swapping all the appearance mods over.

PMPerformance 01-26-2023 08:17 AM

Agreed this is a hell of a car for the money and hard to be matched.
I am partial to the widebody, but really is a timeless design. It surprises me to see how people flock around my car to check it out. To me
”it’s just an older Vette”. But the general public act as if it is a supercar when they see it. It’s still wild to me.

Diamonddave60 01-26-2023 08:29 AM

Had a Boxster Base wanted more power. Traded for Boxster S MUCH nicer, found the useable power to be above the 5000 rpms and it would sting a pretty song above 5k range....But who is running that high rpms on city streets? I wanted more useable torque at lower rpms. After several C3s , I came back to a C6 Very happy , its just all around a very good value and make me smile all the time (when I drive it) Even when I think about selling itt , Just go for a drive and that thought all goes away.

Been bouncing back and forth on selling mine. 05 w\ 112k. Owned since 06 w\ 1500 miles. Done enough to make it an enjoyable ride but not enough to say I have sunk thousands of dollars in to a car that I wont get back (been there, done that). May keep it as a toy\project or may go to a C8 or P car. Unfortunately, dont have the garage space for everything I want :(

EvanZR1 01-26-2023 10:32 AM

I've had a C7 and came back to a C6. The C7 is nice for a daily driver, but to me is a little too refined and a little too "busy" on the exterior styling. I think the C6 (especially in a wide body) is perfect once you upgrade the seats and the stereo. Did both on my ZR1 shortly after buying it, and am very happy with it. I am picking up a 70th C8 convertible next month at the museum, and am on the list for a C8 Z06, but I'm keeping the ZR1. It's just that perfect blend of raw and analog, plus I have to keep a manual around for rowing the gears.

I agree :iagree: as I am doing a seat color change and repairs plus some interior parts so I am not looking for a change anytime soon. I love me some C6(s) :woohoo:

I saw a few of your posts in the C8 section and meant to comment that you'd better keep the ZR1. This is good news!

Yeah, definitely not getting rid of the ZR1. Maybe once I get a C8 Z06 in a few years, but even then I doubt it. It's just too rare and too much fun!

FAUEE 01-26-2023 12:21 PM

The only reason to sell is for something that's more practical (AWD, 4 doors, etc). Sure, there's some cars out there faster. There's some out there that sound better. But there's nothing anywhere near the price point that's just better. A Viper, a few Ferraris, a few Porsches, sure. But those are WAYYYY more money.

I have considered selling mine a few times to buy a Durango Hellcat, because I've got kids now and rarely get to drive it. But then I do drive my Vette and it's worth it to keep it. And honestly, I don't know that a HC Durango would be THAT much more fun than my TBSS. Especially if i did a 6L80 and an LSA blower.

It took me a while to get my C6 (2009 bought in 2017), and through the years of ownership, I have had my doubts of how long I should hang on to it. I've had my share of repairs and issues with it, but in the end, I feel that if I let it go,
that that would be my last corvette. not being a financial position that allows me to rashly jump from one car to another, I feel that I can just ride it out. currently, I've been on a quiet run of any mechanical issues (knock on wood).
beyond that though, this car has met all of my needs. timeless style, all the street power that you need, great handling, will handle long hauls as well as around town runs. I was initially on the fence when buying this or a 2010 Camaro SS.
my tuner said to go with the 'Vette. the only thing that you lose with the 'Vette is a back seat. same engine than equals more power. while now of what I've said is novel, just basically confirming mine, and others in their choice.
.

Manual Cayenne? Like a first gen GTS? Neato, gotta see some pics of that!
