67 yellow 300 ac coupe. What’s not to like. Well before the fire anyhow. What’s the story?

Unless you have extraordinary skills. Yes. Definitely above my skill set.

Garage fire few years ago. I ran into it looking for a pool table. It was a 54k mile nice, nice car. I'm giving it a go.

As long as it needs stuff that is readily available in the repro catalogs and you got it at a good price I see nothing wrong.

Depends on many things such as your skill level, tools, place to work, and your age.

I would factor in what your time is worth to you and the time it will take to complete and remember to compare that to the saving over buying a ready to drive car AND the time you sacrifice for not having it to drive vs. buying a done car. Many seem to overlook the value of this.

OTOH. maybe you are looking for the experience and feeling of accomplishment by doing this project yourself.

I am too old and tired to attempt something like this these days and count everyday I have to enjoy driving my cars.

Brings back memories. In 95 I had an L79 air coupe light up like that. Broke my heart.
Insurance paid me a fair amount. I kept the car with the idea to fix it but it sat too long and I wound up selling it for $5K.
I have restored a few but I just couldnt get started on that one.
Good luck and enjoy the project.

Your fiberglass panels are going to be 4-5 months out! Lots of work prior to needing those panels.. I'm guessing 17-20K for proper PM panels..... Just a guess based on my 4 month old order for glass....

Good Luck! I would love to watch the progress!

You may be crazy but you will defiantly need a few extra bucks.

andy60 03-10-2023 07:00 PM

I hear you guys.... What are options on worth as is?
I plan on getting it to a point it runs so I can move it around but dang hood is in the way.... LOL

Q. How do you eat an elephant? A. One bite at a time.

Enjoy the project, from the first shard of broken glass you remove, it will be a better car than when you bought it. Take lots of pics. When the road ahead seems steep, look at what you have already accomplished.

andy60 03-10-2023 07:46 PM

Thanks for the encouragement. I need it :-)

Yep, crazy; BUT, we are only around once....
Aloha,

When it's finished it will look like this, a worthy goal.

Will you have a salvage title with this project?

its worth what you just paid for it. that is current market value. The fire look it got very hot. so just how many steel parts got effected by the heat? more pictures would help. the tittle issue is a deal too

bluestreak63 03-10-2023 08:42 PM

The seats look good, the rear wheel looks good and the rear bumper looks good. So you got that going for you. Which is nice.

TAlvarez 03-10-2023 09:36 PM

If the fire was hot enough to ruin the frame, I'd forget about rebuilding it. Part it out.
But, that's just my opinion.
Ted

The link below may provide some inspiration for you. A friend of mine took on a similar burn project about 15 years ago and it came out beautiful. Admittedly, he owns a Corvette dealership and restoration business, and the car was a 65 fuelie in a rare color combination, but it can be done.
