Remote Mount canister install help Penske Track Spec coilovers
Hi
Ordered a set of the Trackspec Spec Corvette Penske Coilovers. I need to get the installer some info about how and where to mount the remote canisters. I've searched and seen a few threads but just want to make sure I'm not missing anything current. Pictures would be very helpful. Thanks in Advance. Pic of my Z06 they are getting installed on. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...efac2fecf.jpeg |

This is where and how I mounted my rears. Fronts follow. Just finished the front install so haven’t had it in on track. (Before they were zip tied under the front. Bad call as one got loose, hit the ground and was ripped off. Then ran over. $1000 and 5 weeks later I’m properly mounting them) https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...0869c6a2c.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...9b437f1c4.jpeg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...279ad5ca1.jpeg |
Also, looks like you’re close. Come by and check it out in person if you want to.
If you have the quick disconnects, you can use the tool I made to reassemble them while pressurized. |
I realize you have a C6c but I thought I’d show how I mounted my Penske’s:

Yes, I didn’t love drilling the big holes. But my hoses weren’t long enough to on my c6 to run how the other poster ran his though I tried.
but even if I had, to remove the shocks completely would have then required to remove a bunch of bodywork to get the canister back out. Not that I plan to, but being able to do it easily is a nice side benefit of having them run up top. regarding the qdc’s…. Yes, I wish they had them on the front too. I’m not sure why they don’t. Or, alternatively, I don’t know why the rears do. but on the rears, I didn’t know any better and just popped them apart and ran them through. Then I couldn’t get them together. (Because the system was still pressurized). The major west coast suspension place that services motons said that I shouldn’t have done that, definitely ruined the seals and likely the qdc’s themselves. I’d need to send them both in to have them repaired and recharged. that sounded excessive to me. Everything looked fine so I made a little tool to compress the fittings and they clicked back together just fine with no leaks or weeps or anything. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...56ac59221.jpeg |
On my C5 I attached them to the front and rear swaybars and never had an issue.

I did the same for about 1.5 years until one of the canisters fell off! Granted, I’m sure it was an install error by yours truly, but after $1000 and a 5-week wait, I decided to put them somewhere a little more protected.
