You're lucky you have a car coming. You can always change the wheels. I lot of us on here would love to be in your predicament.
thanks for the info on the Hunter machine. I think the shop is just pointing the blame. They messed up this guys wheels |
Austin should've done his homework. He would've learned Chevy dealerships are at the bottom when it comes to service. I would imagine he has a good relationship with his McLaren dealership & should ask them to change his tires.
|
Can someone summarize the video? Some shop cracked the wheels during a tire change?

GM dealers know to to charge ADMs but not how to delivery service |
GM loaned that truck to Austin , before he also mentioned LT6 problem is because of drivers didn't break in the engine properly. I thought he got a relationship with GM and leaned towards them, but from this video I guess not?
|
So he can't have a "relationship" with GM and be honest?...End of the day its a chevy..overpriced chevy with chevy service
|
This thread will not last long...jmho...

No problem, a Hunter rep I talked to said you just need make sure they use the flange plate attachment for the Hunter Revolution tire changer, then there will be no damage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4P3q0sP3Dls
Sad that GM and the dealers apparently haven’t figured this out yet per Austin’s video. Doesn’t seem like much of a mystery to me, why GM hasn’t informed dealers of this process for these wheels, especially this far into production, is beyond me. |
Classic case of materials and tech getting too far out in front of the maintainer. I have a hunch Austin knows better than to take a set of $15,000 wheels (est. replacement cost as when you buy them new for $12,000, GM is backing out the price of the std. 'forged' wheels) He just knows having a Chevy dealer cock up his wheels makes for good clickbait. I wouldn't let any Chevy dealer touch mywheels to dismount tires, no way. they are going to a specialist I trust.

Sometimes there is a price for being an early adopter of bleeding edge technology.
Consider yourself lucky to get one so early. Don't whine about it. Learn from it. There is a solution that you didn't know about. Not GM's fault. The tire installer is at fault. For all we know GM may have sent out a service bulletin on proper tire installation. If they haven't, they soon will. Thanks Austin! |

Carbon Fiber wheels are not bleeding edge technology regardless of what car they are on.

GM made the C7 dry sump oil change idiot proof yet often enough the dealer service wouldn’t do the task correctly. Happened to my 2017 500 mile change, being 3 years into the generation. |
