Fancy paint jobs.

Anyone have any good idea for a fancy paint job? My car is going to be repainted white in a few months and I am getting the bug to create some really cool paint job. Unfortunitly I am not very artistically talented (nor can I spell ;). Anyone seen some cool paint jobs on a white vette before? I think a C3 vette has got to be one of the hardest cars to try and do this to. There are just to many curves and angles. And even worse, the 79 has no cool chrome bumpers to really set it off :(. Anyone have any pics or ideas.

Dont know if im really serious about doing something like this, but I thought I would see if you guys had any good idea ;)
Thanks,
Aaron

I always liked the Baldwin-Motion paint schemes, with the wide stripe and the completely painted tail. Easy to do with a white base. You can always do something with the coves, whether bold or subtle, such as a flag design (USA or checkered). Theres's always the full body waving flag, where the front is Blue with stars and the rest of the car is red and white stripes - how wild do you want to get? :D

Oh man, have you opened a can. Do you realize the ENDLESS possibilities? Ghost flames, ghost flags, solid flames, solid flags, stripes, designs, murals etc. etc. Just because you have a Vette, does not mean that only Vette paint jobs will work. Take a look at hot rod sites. Look at other cars designs and incorporate them into something you would like. MANY, MANY possibilities. A good paint shop should be able to incorparate ANY that you would like on your car. Good luck, and once your done, let's see it. :flag

:iagree: there are endless possibilites. i saw a 74 drag vette/showcar that was bright yellow with a purple splash on it. the front end looked like a splash of water, only purple. ive seen puzzel piece stripes that looked badass i saw a viper that was red/white stripes with navy blue flames. the flames had perfect white stars in them. it looked amazing.

personally, you cant go wrong with pearl. ghost flames, like on vetteflame79s or ghost stripes, or just a coat of pearl over a solid color. ive always love a nice coat of blue pearl over a nice bright white.

are you doing any body mods? i highly reccomed the 80s rear bumper :D

I agree ghost flames are cool on any car,ive painted cars, helmets, and harley gas tanks, and flames are my favorite.Or how about the opposite of a grand sport ,blue stripe down the center with a 1/4 inch pinstripe on each side of it.

QuickVet, let it show your own touch/personality! These ideas are all great, personally, I would go with some ghost flags or stars & stripes of some kind. By the way, where are you getting it painted?

My father is going to paint the car. He has painted a few and they look great so im pretty confident he can do it. As for the ghost flames or stripe, I dont know if he can do this. What do you guys think? should I have him paint the car and then take it somewhere for the ghost flames and clear coat? What is the best order to do this type of thing? I know a guy who has purple ghost flames on his camaro and he just took his car to a place and they just painted em on and left it at that. Looked good though. Any advice? :steering:

When it comes time in a few years...unless accident speeds up the process...I plan to strip and repaint in the colors of a shark, white on bottom edges, going through green/blue/dark blue/gray/black up to the top side....

with ghost flames out the side scoops....

I thought you were doing classic white like it was.

I like flames.

How about 78 pace car combo?

sorry edgar. no pace car combo for me. that belongs on the 78s.
I might just stay plain white. Just exploring some possiblities.
