Long search over? 95 17,000 miles $17,500 no options but showroom-good deal?
Found a like new white/grey 95 automatic that looks new. Only problem is it only has the preferred Group 1 option. No performance axle, no HD suspension, no glass top, no CD, no sport seats but low miles and never stored longer than a month. New low performance KDWS tires ( originals picked up nails owner could not find replacement GSC's).
Will I really miss the G92 gearing? Guess I can add HD suspension parts later. What do you all think about the price and deal? Will have the Vin # in a day or two- can anyone run a Carfax? Really hope the search is over. I am missing too much sleep. |

The 2.59 rear still has some get up and go. I had them in my '93 and I could still burn rubber from a standstill without using the brakes.
My '95 has the base suspension and it handles just fine, of course I haven't autocrossed it or road raced, but I have hit the twisties through the mountains quite a few times. The glass top is only useful if you need headroom, and the standard seats aren't that bad. But those are all bargaining tools. The price they are asking is good if all those things were included. I would offer $15,500 for it, low mileage isn't always good. If all the maintainence records are available, give them a good looking over and if you are comfortable with it, buy it. |

I guess what I'm saying is that $17,500 isn't a rip off, but it isn't a deal either.

Even $15.5 seems a little high in the current market.

I guess what I'm saying is that $17,500 isn't a rip off, but it isn't a deal either. Big thing is make sure you will be happy with that car. Second thing is look to see what it is worth in your area and what others are selling for. The market is not that soft on a 1995 IF the car looks and runs like a 17,000 mile car!! That is not a bad price based off of what I've seen. Below is what NADA.com shows 1995 Chevrolet CORVETTE-V8 Coupe 2 Door 17,000 miles ------------------------------Low Retail----- --AverageRetail -----High Retail Base Price----------------$15,950 -----------$18,225----------- $19,625 Mileage Adjustment 17,000 miles add:--- -----$2,392 ------------$2,392 ------------$2,392 Total Price ----------- -----$18,342 -----------$20,617 -----------$22,017 [Modified by Corvette1996LT1, 6:18 PM 1/22/2003] |

I don't think NADA reflects the market price very well, at least in my case, that was true.

Price sounds reasonable for a low mileage, very good condition 95 Vette. But I recommend you don't have reservations on how it's set-up option-wise. If you really want the rear gears, sport seats, etc, wait and look for one that already has them. There's lots of white/grey cars out there.
Good luck  1991 ZR-1 Blk/Blk #2027 1989 Coupe White/Grey |

Price sounds pretty good but it sounds like your disappointed with the way the car is optioned. I would wait, just my opinion.

Skeet if that car really excites you, grab it. I don't think that price is out of
line. 17k miles is real good, you can't take miles off! You will have to answer for yourself if the gears, sport seats, etc are that important for you. Good luck. |
I'll run your VIN for you on CARFAX!!
Sure, I'll run the VIN for you. Send it to me via email. My email is

Re: I'll run your VIN for you on CARFAX!! (3DFLYER)
I looked for a long time also (about 15 months), and ended up with a car that is optioned exactly the way I would have ordered it myself. I needed to spend some $ to get it where I wanted it mechanically, but now I have a car that could be happy with for the rest of my days.
The price is pretty good, but not so good as to make it a no-brainer, irresistable deal. You'll ultimately have to make your own decision, but my advise is to wait for YOUR car to find you. good luck |
Re: Long search over? 95 17,000 miles $17,500 no options but showroom-good deal? (skeet)
I wouldn't buy it for that much. No options? I *MUST* have a CD player. I can, and do with my 'vette, live without the performance axle and handling package. I would offer $16,000 because though $15,500 is a more reasonable price, that's asking them to come down $2,000. Anyone in their right mind knows that if you don't buy it at that price, someone else will. How much money are you willing to put into it? If the options are what you're looking for, you could offer $16,000, and if it sells to you, then upgrade your front wheels to 9.5 and your swaybars. But those tires, IMO, gotta go. :U

Re: Long search over? 95 17,000 miles $17,500 no options but showroom-good deal? (skeet)
Thanks for all the ideas. I kind of agree about wanting to wait for a "right" optioned car except that I have only seen 1 low mileage car in a year search. Low mileage to me is very important assuming the car is in perfect mechanical shape like you would expect.
Does anyone here know of or even has seen a low mileage Z51, FX3 or Z07 lately? Did anyone here ever add HD Bilsteins to the standard suspension? I though that might be an inexpensive way to get the "go-kart" type ride I love (don't forget I live in Arizona where most roads are as smooth as glass and the speed limit is 75 mph) Can a not too mechanical person install a super HD front stabilizer bar? Anyone want to buy a set of new (1,500 miles about) rain tires, BFG KDWS, with or without like new 95 sawblades? Anyone want to buy a white Speed bra listing for $450 or $499 for $225? |
