Finally moving to the top tier Corvette

I have, over the years since 1997 had 24 x C5-C8. Many of those cars were/are ZO6, but have never had a ZR1. Truthfully with the huge increase in price from the ZO6 I just never thought it was worth it, but given the fact that there will never be another C7 ZR1 produced and there are a very low number of them along with the fact that they have become the clear standard bearer for the American, front engine supercar has lead me to explore taking the plunge.

After getting my C8 Z06 and driving it for 6 months I have come to the conclusion, as I had feared I would, that they C8Z while a great technological win for GM does not have the spirit of the other Corvettes I have had. I will be trading the C8Z for a 2019 ZR1 next week. It is number 115 and A8, 3ZR Sebring Orange car. Cant wait to finally have the king.

You will be very happy with your new ride. I drive my ZR1 & my Z06, both C 7's one or the other every day. My Z06 has 77K miles on it and my ZR1 has a little over 50K on it now. To me not driving these cars is such a waste.

Awesome car, man. Congrats!

BELVIN20 12-06-2023 11:03 AM

Congratulations on your new ride, I like you felt the ZR1 was a car I wanted to have. I now have a 2016 Z06 Convertible & added a 2019 Ceramic Matrix Grey ZR1 M7, ZTK 3ZR to my stable. I as well drive my Corvettes, Z06 has 65K miles & ZR1 22K miles the last of the real Corvettes."King of the Hill"

We have a 2017 M7 Z (32k mi) and a 2002 Z (79k mi) so this new car will fit right in. We also drive our cars. Got the A8 because this will be our drag car. Time to go 8s.

You will not be disappointed. To get into the 8's you'll have your work cut out for you.

Looks pretty darn close. Already have a plan with our tuner, Chris Crawford, to go 8s on stock blower. He has a couple C7ZR1 in the 8s with bolt ons. Modification and tuning capability is one of the major reasons I am getting rid of the C8Z. Have had/ do have and do have multiple C7Z from 800-1150whp. Ready for some FEAR!

Congratulations on joining the C7 ZR1 club!

We had some exchanges in the C8 Z06 thread earlier, but glad you got a C7 ZR1. Both of the cars are awesome (C8 and C7). At the rate they are making C8 Z06s, I think for the money you will be better off.

Happy Holidays and Enjoy in good health!

LOL, yep exchanges. Appreciate it man.

Yeah like I said the C8Z just doesnt make my knees shake and I am scared to mod the damn thing. LOL

Me and my wife both thought we would not be too hot on the mid engine and our pre impressions were actually spot on. Tried to love it, but cant.

I have owned the EXACT ZR1 for over 3 years now and you are making a great move and you are going to love it!!!!!! A big CONGRATS to you as you move into the true King of the Hill and the current King of all Corvettes; and a car that does 213 mph versus the C8 Z06 that only could hit 195 mph=lame. :bs

Hey there awesome car, so my S. Orange ZR1 (minus the go fast mods I'm envious) has your exact interior and 3ZR Ztk package. Is that interior of yours that is identical to mine called the orange design package that has the orange stiching on the headline too?

mdformula350 12-08-2023 05:50 AM

wow congrats!

yeah the pinnacle of the front engine vette!

darn shame I wasnt in the position to buy a new one back then, funny to say that around $130k was a bargain now. currently these are out of my range for sure in terms of being comfortable affording it, but I can always dream...

DebRedZR1 12-08-2023 08:56 PM

Awesome, congrats and welcome to the club
ENJOY, the C7ZR is def one of a kind.

I felt exactly the same way, my C8Z just doesn't have the that raw, torquey feeling of my C7 ZR1 so I went and bought another C7 ZR! since I'll be departing from my C8Z as soon as the warranty restriction expires. I find driving my C7 ZR1 is a much more exhilarating feeling than the C8Z and a lot more dependable! That's for sure!
