upgrade from stingray HTC to Z06 HT

Have had my 23 HTC around 6 months, 1500 miles. Love it but can't get Z06 off my mind, My dealer has a allocation and thinking about going for it with a coupe build 3LZ no mag ride to keep cost lower. Would like to hear from anyone that has upgraded with your thoughts. They estimate delivery June/ July and I assume the valve tick issue would be solved?

Never drove a stingray, just here to say that mag ride is standard equipment on all C8 Z06’s.

Absolutely love my Z06 though.

sjmaster 02-16-2024 12:34 PM

great thanks ... I misunderstood the build tool... thought you had to get Z07 package for selective mag ride

A quantum leap forward in overall performance, no regrets!

It sounds dramatic to say, but they really are two different cars. The sound, power delivery and other driving characteristics make them unique experiences in their own right. The Stingray is great from a stoplight given the low torque, and with the more forgiving suspension it drives easier, in general, especially without the low aero, wider body and dive planes of the Z06 (depending on what options you get) to be mindful of when maneuvering in garages, etc. The Z06 doesn’t make much power until 3500 RPMs; however, the Z06 feels much more special when driven, given all these attributes. And the sound of the Z06 is absolutely intoxicating. Videos don’t do a complete job of capturing the actual sound. It has a subtle mechanical buzzing component that becomes more apparent at higher RPMs. My best description would be of a Ferrari NA V8 that was made by Porsche. It’s a wholly unique sound unlike any other sports car I’ve heard, and I absolutely love it. It fits the character of the car perfectly. I think it would be very difficult to go back to a Stingray after owning a Z06. Just my thoughts.

I just did the same exact thing. Just signed all the papers today with all those BIG numbers currently at 2000 status..Go for it.

I had a 2020 coupe, then a 22 convertible. Now I have a 24 Z06 coupe.
The Stingrays are great cars. The Z06 is a different animal. Get the Z06. You will not regret it for a second.

I went from a '21 HTC to a '23 HTC ZO6. Every time I drive it I think to myself it was worth the extra money for the sound alone!

21 stingray HTC to 23 Z06 HTC. Top down is even better on the z06 because of the engine sound. If you enjoy having the top down on your stingray, splurge for the HTC in the Z06.

Does anyone have insight on trade value loss ? dealer is elusive wants me to use carmax quote? 2023 HTC 2LT red mist, nat tan napa, GT2 Z51 silver race stripes. 1500miles showroom cond Chained to trade in due to ad valorum credit

My 2024 Z06 HTC is arriving Monday, my 2023 C8 HTC was bought back by GM last month.
The C8 exhaust note even with NPP was lacking, definitely not special.
As for looks, my C8 HTC was one of the few regular C8s I thought was attractive.
Most don't look that good. They are very dependent on color, wheels, spoilers, etc...
C8 Z06s look good in almost every color and configuration.
I think the Z06 is going to be special.

I just went from a '23 70th HTC Stingray (3LT, non-Z51, Magride, NPP, front lift) to a '24 HTC Z06 (2LZ, 2-tone interior, alcantara seat centers & steering wheel, front lift). I haven't fully gotten the Z broken in yet (only about 200 miles on it due to the weather not cooperating), but I'll give my thoughts. The Stingray is an awesome car, definitely the best Corvette to date (I've had all gens from C4-C8, most recently a 730whp C6 ZR1, and a C7 Z51 before the C8). The Stingray is really a dual purpose grand tourer & sports car, especially something like the non-Z51 with Magride. More comfortable ride than my wife's Cadillac ELR, quiet in Tour mode and can just eat up the miles on trips. Would make a great daily driver, grand tourer, cruiser and can still be a great sports car. The Z06 on the other hand is a pure sports (maybe even exotic) car, that feels like it always just wants to go! The exhaust is ever present, the ride is stiff, and the engine does not like to lope around at low rpm, it feels like it wants to cruise at around 4K so that it's always ready to run. In short, I love it! :D My wife however doesn't really get it. She loved the Stingray, and never once complained about the noise even though I drove it with the NPP in Track for almost the entire 8K miles we had it (I always thought the Stingray NPP was a little too quiet). The Z06, she commented on the drive home from the dealer that it was loud and that the ride was a lot stiffer.

Here's my list of reasons why someone might be a candidate for a Z06:
  • You want the most track-ready C8
  • You like driving in manual mode all the time and revving it out
  • You want a car that is an "experience" every time you drive it
  • You just must have that 8600rpm FPC LT6
If you don't meet any of those, I would seriously think about staying with a Stingray or look at the Eray. The C8 Z06 is the sharpest difference I've ever seen between Corvette submodels, and I've owned or had plenty of seat time in all the previous gens base & performance variants.

We had put 8K miles on the '23 SR and combined with sales tax/registration credit due to trade, it worked out to equivalent of selling it for $93K private party. Probably about in line with market pricing. The deal for mine to get MSRP for the Z06 required trade-in of the Stingray, so I still feel pretty good about it.

Its standard.

Z06 is a special car. That fpc changes everything. The looks are subjective. Not the powertrain.

I think Ill be writing a deposit check Monday :steering:

yell03 02-22-2024 06:05 PM

My car arrived Monday and all I can say is do it.
I went from a 2023 C8 Z51 HTC to a C8 Z06 HTC and the sound alone makes switching worth it.
If you can get a HTC do it, plenty of out of state dealers willing to ship the car they have in stock to you.
I live in PA and bought my car from Yes Chevy in West VA.
They delivered the car by trailer and took my trade back which they bought from the pics I provided.
Easiest car deal I have ever made. $10K over sticker which is less than any other dealer I spoke to and they gave me more money on my Trade than any other dealer.

Keep the Stingray HTC and add the Z06 Coupe. ; )
