Brake master cylinder rebuild kit

I have a 1987 C4 with a leaking brake master cylinder. It's leaking around the plunger, fluid going into the brake booster. Does anyone make a rebuild kit? I've looked everywhere I know of...O'REILLY, Autozone, Advanced, Ebay, Amazon, all the Corvette websites. Nobody has a kit. I hate to spend $200+ for a new one when a 50 cent seal will fix.

You could try RockAuto. They range from $44 to $140 for the whole assembly. Not sure if they have a rebuild kit though.

I replaced the MC on my '96 with a new Raybestos unit a few years ago. Not sure if rebuild kits are available. Heads up, there are two different thread sizes for the sensor...not sure if this appertains to your year.

I don't think you will find a rebuild kit for any c4 corvette. I looked but ended up buying a new master cylinder.

Thank you for the quick response. Rockauto.com doesn't have a kit. But, to your point, they do have a cylinder for $44.

I wound up with a after-market defective leaky M/C right from the box. I ordered a rebuild kit for it. It too leaked and was junk.. I finally just forked out the money for a new GM factory N.O.S. master cylinder I found on that famous auction site. It sealed and works perfectly. .Do not let the brake fluid leak into the booster. It WILL damage it.

Thanks for the info. I've purchased one from Rockauto.com. See if this one works. Is this a common problem with these M/C? I've never had a M/C leak in any other vehicle I've had. (???)

I would say it is a common problem on any car this old. Seals deteriate with age. And if you cheap out on replacement parts they may not last.
