250 for an oil change on the GS today!!!

I did a triple take!! :willy::rofl:!!! I mean, it had been a while since i did one at the Chevy dealer and back then it was something like 100 bucks. Man, apparently the prices have gone up!!! Next time I do it myself. On a bright note ,the weather was great for a February day in the Northeast and there was a 1600 mile 13 ZR1 out back waiting for an oil change or something. Gorgeous car.

Next time don't forget to bring the KY along:rofl:.......

That’s wild not confirming a price before service.

I'm sure they checked the car thoroughly as great tech centers do. There is a price on that. It's not cheap.

Hoping that was built into price! I think I paid 130 - 140 at the dealer a year or so ago.

Dealer’s rates are ridiculous these days. I avoid at all costs. Lesson learned on not asking for a price.

had my 2010 coupe’s oil changed at the dealer today as well. Mobil one as always. Final charge was $107.12. I had a $25 gift card from the dealer and $44.00 on my Chevy rewards so final cost was $38.00 and some change.

49.95 at my local shop. 94.95 full synthetic

Then double the amount of oil needed for a GS.

Only if the GS is a Dry Sump——-requires 10.5 qts

JABCAT 02-27-2024 09:00 PM

11 qts of oil is ~$60, the filter is $10. OP got hosed. The only oil changes I ever get at the dealer are those that free & included in my complimentary maintenance programs. All others are done by me.

True. I my mind all GS’s are manuals! :D

js78 02-27-2024 09:40 PM

I do them, myself as they’ve gotten more expensive
four cars in the family, it can add up

Vate 02-27-2024 09:46 PM

Dry sump GS has two drain plugs to remove, two! That's worth $250 easily.

2500 hd 02-27-2024 09:49 PM

I do my own..

WOW.... It was the first thing my dad showed me how to do when I was 14. The next item on the list was how to change a tire. I still do the these things and I am 60. Thanks Dad.

:iagree: My kids learned how to do maintenance on our vehicles at 10. I'm always amazed when people go to the dealer for routine items & then get fleeced on top of it. My son bought himself a very nice 2-owner '03 Jeep Wrangler last year for his 14th b-day, and he's been modifying that as well so it'll be the way he wants it by the time he gets his license

I had a 2006 machine silver manual Convertible that I took to the dealer for the first oil change. They tore up the driver"s side rocker panel. After that, I started doing my own servicing. Six quarts of Mobil 1, 5W30 is about $35 at Walmart and $5 for the PF-48.
