Stingray turned Zo6 question
Looking at a 2018 stingray that has been upgraded to a Zo6. This upgrade was not from the factory. Anybody know if I am looking at problems with this / It was an original Grand Sport so I guess you could call it a clone Zo6 Thanks for any help

So …. It’s a Grand Sport with a supercharger ?
We need a little more information. What type of blower ? Has the lower end been built/ forged pistons etc.. to handle the boost ? When I was dreaming of a ZO6 , searching the internet for months I contemplated the same thing. My opinion is/ was … it’s not a ZO6. Fundamentally it is however, to save a few bucks it wasn’t worth it to me. Especially if the bottom end wasn’t upgraded. I knew I wanted to mod the ZO6 and a stock bottom end LT4 would be a hurdle to overcome. I know many folks have pushed them for years but forged pistons & rotating assembly are created for a reason. Some people are not concerned with resale ( as I usually don’t worry about it either) but when I contemplated the upgraded Grand Sport I said to myself “the same apprehension that I am feeling is exactly what a potential buyer would feel when I have to sell it”. This is what you are doing right now. To cut to the chase: I would wait & find a ZO6 if that is what you are looking for. |

Unless you really know all the details, personally just look for a Z06.. there are much more differences a Z06 has over GS than supercharger.. Maybe if it was cheap and you like the sleeper kind of thing

What do you call a base Stingray with a stock ZL1 Camaro wet sump LT4 motor, CAI, Headers, Maggy 2650 and dual nozzle Meth kit??
|
Sounds like a Frankenstein Z06 ...

in the end it was a Frankenstein but nonetheless a Z06 that functioned and looked identical to any real Z06 from Gm. So to the op if he has proof (videos etc of the swap) and the price is right I’d do it in a second. |
^^You have skills that are FAR above average. I would not recommend the OP buy this car unless he has skills like you, or is prepared to spend money if something goes wrong.
Of course, if he has the extra money…………. |

The OP should take the excellent advice in this thread and find himself a Z06 that began its life as a Z06.

Yes, I would look for a real Z06.
