Damn sqirrells!!!!

Have a 2023 HTC C8 that had been in the Garage since mid-November with car cover installed. With the recent warm weather here in central PA, I figured it was time to start voiding the warranty. I'm having the Soul Performance Exhaust with Cats, Falcon Window and engine dress kit, Eventuri Intake and ZLR doors installed. Get a text from my trusted car guy and....

Damn Squirrells living inside my wheel well.. Fortunately, no damage to wires .. May need to buy one of those inflatable bubbles to keep them out.

Squirrels love Corvettes too.

PEPPERMINT MAYBE IT'S TOO LATE but rodents do not like peppermint

Go to AMAZON they have several deterrents packs or you can get some from the spice shelf of your grocery store sprinkle it around
be prepared to smell it if that's the way to go the little packs are the way to go they last about 3 months

Freaking critters can do so much damage!

We have a pool which means we have chlorine tabs for the filter. They are 3” x 1” and smell strong…. I put one behind each wheel when the cars go into the back of the garage for winter and we have never had a problem. If you know anyone with a pool they will have a big tub of them… anything that goes near the wheels will be repelled by the smell.

Those look like rat turds.

Not a sight you want to see in or around your car. Good luck keeping the critters away.

Squirrels are just rats with bushy tails.

Lowe’s sells rodent spray, it’s peppermint in a can. Use it around car and motorcycle.

I live in a rural setting and was fighting a losing battle with squirrels, rats, and mice. Not only were they getting into my cars but also damaging soffit and facia, insulation and even electrical wires. Outdoor cats won the battle for me. Less snakes as well.

You need a new pest control company….

cwatson6 04-17-2024 07:29 AM

Hate that it happened to you, but happy glad there was no damage.

That could be mice like someone said.

I had this issue before when i parked my wrx near the fence of my house for 1 weekend that i didn't use it. Monday morning i go to work and the entire dash lit up like a christmas tree. Passenger window didn't roll down either, power mirrors didn't work and my hill assist didn't work. When i brought the car to the dealer they said mice chewed a whole ton of wires underneath the plastic engine cover.

Damage ended up being about 400 bucks so not terrible.

Since then i literally spray both of my corvettes engine bays with the rodent repellent after each weekend drive since they both sit the entire week until the following weekend.

4 years later so far so good. I also put mouse traps near the car with peanut butter. Since doing that i have caught 8 mice over the course of the years.

Leaving your garage doors closed should keep the squirrels out, however not rats/mice as they can get in through very tight openings. And no, squirrels aren't just rats with bushy tails they are very different creatures.

My in laws live near you in Mechanicsburg and their street got hit hard last summer. At least half a dozen cars with major wire damage. One car
got to Bobby Rahal Toyota with one still nesting in the engine bay.

I live in a rural area and my C8 is parked in a 30x30 detached metal building. It has an entry door and two regular garage doors. I put one of those electronic pest deterrents in the building and the only thing I've had in there are spiders. I also see lizards but they eat spiders so I leave them alone. I drop a couple of dryer sheets under my front carpet and haven't had any trouble with critters. I do have mouse bait traps on all four corners of my home and they take the bait. Once they eat it they get out of the trap, go find some water to drink, and die when they drink the water so I don't have to deal with dead mice.

I have a detached garage that I have had to deal with mice. Put one of the electronic units in and that hasn't been full proof (it makes lots of animal sounds). I read somewhere that the smell of Irish Spring soap was a deterrent but that doesn't work either, the mice chewed on the bars. Hate those little buggers.

My electronic device makes no sounds that I can hear. So far so good.

I was having problems with mice getting into my house through the basement and getting into our pantry. I put bait stations on all four corners of our house last fall and only one mouse has made it's way into the house since. I found it on a sticky pad in my basement. I had my pest control company look for the hole it got through. They found it, sealed it, and no more mice since. The bait station that uses the most bait is on the corner of the house by my garage door.

Chlorine is very corrosive. Anytime I have stored it in my garden shed or outbuilding it has caused metal to rust almost immediately. Even in a container that is supposed to be sealed, some chlorine gas escapes. I keep it in a special locker outside now and my corrosion problems are gone. I wouldn’t put chlorine anywhere near any of my vehicles. I quick Google search confirms my experience with chlorine.

Luckily, I have had no issues with mice damaging any of my cars. However, while recently replacing two garage shelving units, I saw the top two shelves of both units were covered in mouse droppings. Not only that, but the particle board shelves themselves were crumbling. Apparently, the mice were urinating on the shelves, which caused the particle board to swell and crumble.

I now have rat poison deployed in the garage, as well as a trap or two....

Hoping for the best...:ack:
