Take It FWIW !

IMO, on the whole, he's been a good/solid chief engineer for our beloved Corvette.
If he retires, those will be some decent sized shoes for somebody to fill. I wish him all the best - he seems like a genuinely good dude. |
Im sure he is leaving because a new person is already in charge of the C9

47 years. Wow. Some career. Best wishes.

Let's not forget what he chose for his retirement car. Given all the optional C8 trim levels, he chose the "lowly" Stingray: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...tingray-4.html

I think Josh Holder will take his place

Tadge is the best engineer Corvette has ever had, period. That said, I wish he had given us a manual option.

I know 2 engineers that worked for him. They said he was a genius, inspirational, and they never saw him get angry and correct someone when others were around. A true leader in every sense of the word.

https://www.motorauthority.com/news/...ress%20release It must be true because CorvetteBlogger is reporting it: https://www.corvetteblogger.com/2024...ement-from-gm/ |
I’ve known Tadge for over 35 years. There is absolutely no doubt that he knows how to engineer a great road car. However, he completely understood the engineering, the executive support, the sacrifices, and the capital required to make the Corvette as exceptional as it is on the track. I can’t remember 1 time he denied me any support I requested when it came to track requests, and believe me, I asked for a lot. His intelligence intimidated me, but his personality eliminated that intimidation. If there was ever an icon that chief engineers should look up to to emulate, that person would be Tadge Juechter.

He earned it but that will leave a gaping whole and concern that Corvette future designs could be adrift in the coming years given his steadfast Corvette vision and love of it’s heritage.

best chief engineer for Corvette ever
|
Thank you for everything, Tadge. Hope you enjoy retirement.

Engineers like this really don't retire. Officially they do, but unofficially he will continue to be a resource if he wants to be. He might even be offered a contract to consult as a 1099.

I'm happy that he made Zora's dream of a mid engine Corvette a reality. Kudos and I hope he really enjoys the other side of life.
