Dyno day upcoming - any guesses?
Hi members! I'm taking my 1999 M6 FRC to the dyno in 8 days. Two reasons for my visit, the first is I'd like to get a baseline for power. I purchased this car exactly one year ago and have enjoyed it, and am curious how much power it has before I start to mod the motor. Second, I have been learning HPTuners over the winter, and am curious as to what effect my novice tuning skills have had on the car. When I got the car, the ECM tune was the stock one, and smelled rich, so it was never optimized for headers.
The dyno will be a AWD Mustang Dyno @ 100' above sea level. Engine Mods to the car: Stock '99 LS1 C6Z air box and MAF LG LT Street headers, X-pipe, and Z06 Ti exhaust LS7 Clutch and Flywheel Fresh LS6 valve springs LS6 valley cover secondary AIR system delete Novice Tune My personal guess is 330-345. |
345-350, my friend has mods on an 03 M6, LG streets, hall tech air intake, xpipe, catback, tuned, and made 355, yours being a 99, 345-350, novice tune, we shall see.

Mustang dyno's can be pretty stingy! 318hp/347Tq. My novice tune was +6 HP better than the stock tune, and that's what I was most interested in. Most importantly, I now have a baseline on this dyno, and one I will come back to once my next set of mods are installed for a nice fair shake down. |

Mustang dyno calibration can be tweaked to look like a dynojet. I believe it adds on the order of 10-12%
I ran a dyno dynamics for about 5 years. Many of our customers headed straight to a dynojet after our work and then were happy. It was 13-14% lower than a Dynojet. Id say Rob’s car was very well set up to take advantage of that 420 rwhp! Nice job OP, enjoy |
