POWER WINDOW PROBLEM....
I have replaced the weatherstrip around the doors and windows on my 78. Problem....the drivers side power window will not completely seat into the new weatherstrip. The passenger side window motor seems to have enough torque to push the window into the new weatherstrip put the drivers side runs out of "umph" leaving a gap at the top! Am I looking at a new motor or is there an adjustment I can make to fix this problem? Thanks!

Re: POWER WINDOW PROBLEM.... (GRAYGHOST)
I'm no expert by any stretch, but it could be possable that your 2 window glass tracks need to be adjusted out a tad. Since the new W/strip is thicker than the old, the glass is too tight against it. These two wndow track adjusting bolts (in/out adjustment) are on the top of the door under the door panel. Two top bolts per track. Adjusting the track out a bit might give you the play you need. I just went through this adjustment procedure after a pwr regulator rebuild. Not hard...just time consuming. If this isn't the cause...check the regulator gear. They wear out and the teeth break. Good Luck

I need to adjust my driver side window as well. Silvr77, are you saying the adjustment bolts are found at the top after removing the inside trim door panel?

Re: POWER WINDOW PROBLEM.... (GRAYGHOST)
I agree with Silvr77. Check the window adjustment.
They can be a real PIA and you have to think backwards on the adjustment. I'll try to look for the adjustment procedure if someone doesn't beat me to it. Patience is the key to everything on these babies   |
