clutch slipping?

What is the best method to determine if my clutch is slipping? ('94 Z28, with T56 six speed, SPEC Star Stage 3 Kevlar disc) What speed/gear/rpm? Should I look for a grippy road surface such as new asphalt?

This will get you back to the top. I vaguely recall a procedure outlined somewhere..... either the service manual or the Haynes manual or ... somewhere, that walked you thru a clutch test. MJ

Re: clutch slipping? (Turbo-Jet)

Ive never tried this method but I was told to do this by my teacher for my manual transmissions class. With the car in 4th gear drive at a steady pace so you are just off of an idle like around 1200 or so then push the clutch in and hold the rpm's up to around 4000 and let the clutch out quickly. Supposedly the engine will bog back down to your starting rpm, if it dosent at least come close to your origional rpm your clutch is slipping. Good luck

Re: clutch slipping? (Turbo-Jet)

it should be pretty obvious when your clutch is slipping. if you step hard on the gas while driving in gear, the revs will go up but you won't accelerate (same as if you were in neutral). as the revs drop, the clutch will catch again.
