Bubba has been under my hood!

Needed to figure out how to route some cold air for the Formula since all I ahd was one of the K&N filters on the nose of the throttle body. Meet up with the previous owner and he gave me a heat duct he had tryied to fashion a cold air intake from. Well all I did was add the little extra duct work and trimed it a little and here you have Bubba's homemade Ram Air duct work:

Inside look at the filter:

What is nice is that the intake temp sensor was hanging free and just picking up the temp under the hood. I think the air that was being sucked in was mainly the super heated air being blown out by the cooling fan. The sensor would read in the 160 to 190 range, now it reads in the 130 at idle and drops rapidly once I get going. Yes I know it is not very appealing to look at but it is a vast improvement over just the cone filter. I think I might just wrap it with the nice tape I got from summit that you can see where the black vent meets the unpainted duct. Stuff only sticks to itself and does not come undone like regular balck tape. And unfortunetly there is not cold air package offered for the ram air hood that is on it. Here is the front view of the car:

Looks great and very functional, this is not a bubbafied job at all. With the cowl induction of the L-88 hood I am running @ 130 as well. Great work Chris, I am looking fwd to seeing your vette once it is done.

Looks good,as long as it works it doesnt matter what it looks like,my temps are around 120 at idle, its still in the stock spot too but the c5 air bridge is always bringing in cooler air from outside.I might move it to the air duct to see how it drops.Anyway nice job

Thanks all, glad you appreciate a little bubba here and there. This is more of temp fix until I see something some else has done, a kit is avail or I can think up something. Well worth the $2.95 and 2 hours I spent.
