Need opinions on brake lines...

I need to get my car running soon, and I've had to take out the old brake lines for the left front and right front cross over. No auto parts store sells lengths longer than 5', so I'm going to get a connector to connect a three foot and a four foot length, just temporarily until I can order the right stuff. Opinions?

The old lines have a coil all around it, looks like chaff protection, some catalogs call it armor. What's the deal with this? Do I need it? What does it do?

Try looking at one of the forum vendors.
They sell brake lines (either complete sets or individual pcs).

I just put all new brake and fuel lines on my 72.

I don't see anything wrong with using a proper connector and joining 2 lenths together. Sure it would be nice to have a one piece but go for the 2 piece, route it carefully and forget it. Why do it now then redo again.
As for the protective shield it just prevents damage to the brake line from careless wrenching of the engine. I never used brake lines with the armor but routed my new lines carefully to prevent future damage.

Should I invest in a tube bender? Bought the tubing today with a coupler. I have an idea that'll get the armor back on, some how I just feel better with it on.
