1976 neutral safety switch
 

My 76 does not start (L48 auto) unless I play with the shift lever and get the starter to engage. Where is the adjustment for this ?
Under the center console or under the car ?

On my 77 (L48, auto) I believe it is under the consol. If I remember correctly it the neutral switch also controls the back up lights.

It's under the center console section that surrounds your shifter, climate controls, etc. If you've never removed it before, get thorough instructions so you don't break the factory fasten points.
