Torque Converter - El Question

I sheared a bolt off in my torque convertor and upon drilling it then proceeding to get an EZout broken off in it. I wound up cutting the whole mounting pad off the TC.

I just got off the phone with a couple places looking to have a new pad mounted. One tells me they couldn't do it (not a problem wasnt really the right place for it anyways), another telling me I have to replace the entire TC.

Anyone got any words for me? Anywhere I can send my TC to have this operation done as inexpensively as possible? Or is it something that shouldn't/can't be done?

First of all is it worth it. Stock and after market can be had for cheap.

Good auto tranny shops saw the whole TC in half and replace the center spines and flat springs. Then welding it back up. I've also seen aftermarket race converters with big mounting ring and anti-balooning plates welded on.

Just find a good shop the builds converters.

I agree with LT1er, if it is a stock convertor then just get a replacement, a rebuilt stock convertor with LLT warranty is only about $70-75 exchange from Autozone. A slightly better than stock convertor can be purchased from Jeg's or Summit for less than $120.00.
