changing spark plugs on 1980 corvette

Is there a trick to changing the #8 and #6 spark plugs i cant get my hand in the #8 plug and I cant find a tool to get inside and take off the #6 plug cause theres no room to move the ratchet. (the plugs i am talking about are two plugs on the passenger side closest to the rad)

You need to use a universal joint: ratchet handle-extension-universal joint-socket.

It is easier to get to those from underneath the car, jack the car up and pull the right front wheel. You can try sliding under the car and looking up at them. Or, maybe try going in over the front hub, with the wheel off, over the A-arm.

I believe those are 2 and 4

3 4
5 6
7 8

Let me know if I'm wrong because it would mean my timing is really screwed up. Anyway, I get mine with an open end wrench. I have aluminum heads so I use antiseize, it helps to lubricate the plug and I can get it almost all the way by hand. Then it only takes a wrench or two to tighten it down an litte. I have found that even with the U-joint socket it is difficult.

I am not sure about your setup but with mine and headers I use a 5/8 sparkpug socket that has a hex head on it for a wrench (11/16 I think)

One of my plugs is so tight I use a short 5/8 socket so that the sparkplug actually sticks out through it then I use a pair of vicegrips on the socket

It is definately easier from underneath. Yes it's a tight fit, but it can be done. Good luck!
