Oil filters - Am I experiencing brain fade?

Hi Gang:

I seem to remember a post on here some time ago about the PF44 oil filter being superceded. At the time I thought nothing of it because I had several stocked up. Guess what - they're gone!

I tried searching, but got nothing on oil filters at all. I know this is old news, but what's the new AC Delco oil filter number for C5s (2000 LS1)?

Or am I experiencing yet another senior moment ...

Thanks

Just went through this a short time back myself. If I remember correctly, the PF44 has been replaced by the PF46. The AC Delco premium filter is the UPF44. I could not find them locally so I ordered them from gmpartsdirect. I received them in three days, happy camper. You should stock up on them and save a little on shipping. GOOD LUCK.

:iagree: Same thing on my end. Bought two from my local Chevy dealer and did my first oil change. I was surprised to see a different part number on the filter I removed. Now the car is up in the air, no oil and I have what looks like the wrong filter! :mad Called the parts department and learned I was given the correct filter, just a different part number. PF46 is the new number. AC Delco also makes a super filter but I don't know the part number. It costs about $7-$9 as compared to the under $6 for the PF46. :chevy

I think Ken Fichtner (supporting vendor) has a supply of the premium UPF44 filters available. For the extra couple of bucks each, I prefer these to the PF44 or PF46.
Just my $.02

lyonsh,

The Premium Ultraguard Gold oil filter part number is 25329389. RWH
has a good point, it's best to stock up on them and save a little on shipping and Handling.

Thanks, Marc http://WWW.GMPartsDirect.com http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/results...&partnumber=C5

Drainback valve doesnt do squat the way the filter is oriented on the C5. It only helps marketing for those that don't know.

An antidrainback valve definitely helps even on a vertical mount! It keeps the oil directly above the filter from flowing back into the pan on shutdown. It's not as critical as it is on a sideways mounted filter, but it does indeed work.

Yes, all Mobil 1 oil filters come with the ADBV. To verify, look through the holes in the top of the filter, and you'll see a black rubber flap in there. If there was no ADBV, then you'd see the metal endcaps of the filter through those holes instead.
