Horsepower wars, Dodge is getting ready for a "super vette"
 

Hey I love my z06, but Dodge is preparing for the c6 z06 and the proposed super vette. Here is an example of what dodge has shown at sema as a concept car :crazy: Carbon fibre removable top, carbon fibre hood and trunk lid, not to mention 625 HP :eek: Gotta love these HP wars :boxing

The problem with Dodge is that they only like to make high HP and torque. Doesn't seem that they're into anything else.

The BD will beat it, I'm sure. Dodge will come back with some outrageously high HP car to counter, but it's still just not going to cut the mustard anywhere but acceleration and top end speed.

The current Viper beats the Z06 in every single performance category. It accelerates faster, brake harder, and pulls more g's. It might not be as easy to drive, but it's ultimate performance is higher than what the current Z06 can achieve.

Why is the Dodge being shown on a Hunter Engineering alignment rack? I guess they couldn’t get it to SEMA without screwing up the suspension.

I had viewed a video in which Bob lutz had said that the new z06 c6 will "suck the doors of the viper and gt40" ( that sounds nastier then blow the doors off , hehe! ) Then went on to mention that if the z06 didnt do this GM has plenty more up their sleeves. He also mentioned that when the c5 z06 was developed at a time preivious to the racing experience that GM have now with the cr5, and that experience would come into play :D

Well, Dodge still has 2 years before the Z06 comes out. Don't rule out the Dodge boys yet.

Don't forget the Dodge boys now speak German. I wouldn't be suprised if we soon see an automatic-only Viper weighing 4,500 lbs., and the words "Kompressor" on the fenders... :D :lol:

I thought that ZL1 is going to be the real name of the car and Blue Devil was just an inside nickname.

The SEMA "Carbon" Viper did look a bit ricey with the unpainted carbon fiber parts, but SEMA is a parts-manufacturer show, so I don't blame them for showing off the CF parts technology.
PVO said that they will gauge the public response to the Viper Carbon and if it's favorable, they will make some or all of the parts available on future production Vipers.

People always loose sight that the SRT-10 Viper is already a performance match today for the $280K Lambo Murcielago, and $200K Porsche GT2 in acceleration, braking, and handling.
And after dropping another 150lbs, while getting 625HP will put the SRT-10 Viper's performance right up with the $400,000 Porsche Carrera GT, and McLaren SLR. :cool:

I'm happy to see both the 500HP+ Ford GT, and 500HP (3000lb) C6 Z06 driving DC to drop the Viper's weight and raise it's power to stay competitive.

The ZL1 would truly be a supercar Corvette (if it is actually built) and if it meets those impressive specs of 600HP+ and sub-3000lb weight.
Hopefully GM will make a formal announcment about the C6 Z06 and ZL1 at the regular C6 Corvette's Detroit/Los Angeles January car show unveiling. :cool:
