valve in 5/8" heater hose
 

Guys- I'm replacing my two heater hoses with braided pieces and when checking my stock hoses noticed some kind of valve spliced in the 5/8"
line.I was told it was there to keep heat from the cockpit when the heater was off.Is this correct and if so can it be relocated so i don't have to splice the braided line?

If it has a vacuum actuator on it, it's probably stock! It was set-up to close when the A/C was switched on, thus cutting hot coolant from passing into heater core. What's strange is that some early c-3's had them, then they did away with them for awhile (as on my '73), only to bring them back. So you can move it or remove it. But if you do remove it, and it has the vacuum line, be sure to plug it! :cheers:

I installed a hot water shut-off on my Vette. In the summer, the hot water keeps circulating through, and it just gets too darn hot. I suggest leaving it.
