what are the symptoms of a blown power valve ?
 

Car seems to stumble at low engine revs. Picks up well and accelerates hard just stumbles at low revs(like an intermittent miss at low speed)

It did this with points and it still does it with a new coil and a pertronix ignitor ignition. Plugs have less than 500 miles on them and the leads are only a year old. Timing is set at 12 degrees static and 36 all in at 3000 rpm.

The carb is a Holley street avenger so it has blowout protection but i have had a few backfires through it !! Could it be the power valve ? what are the symptoms of a blown power valve ?

Any help would be appreciated.....this is driving me up the wall

loss of power, rich condition....black exhaust, burning eyes
