has anyone put this togeter. I seen it at my local hobby shop they wanted $85 dollors for it :crazy: It looked neat

That's the most recent release of the 1/8 '65. It's been around since the first release back in the 60's. The various years of 1/8 Vettes ('65, '78, '82, and '85) are very nice kits, and quite easy to build. As for the price, you can probably get one cheaper on Ebay, but for the convenience of not having to mess with shipping costs, it's not bad.
I've built and customized many of them over the years, including a '63 Grand Sport and a '65 convertible. :cheers:

One thing you have to be careful of, they had a bad reputation for having damaged bodies from the poor packaging. That is one reason they stopped making them !
So check it first if they let you.

This is the newest release of the same 1/8 '65 that Monogram originally issued in 1965 which was molded in medium blue. In 1975 they reissued it in red, then again in the early 80's in "Metalflake" blue. Revell took over Monogram, so this latest one was release under the Revell name. It came out in Germany several months ago, and it's finally started showing up here. The box shows a black '65, but chances are it's molded in white since the manufacturers have mostly done away with molding kits in color. Are they showing up in hobby stores only?

Chances are you won't find anything this big in the department stores like Walmart, etc. With shelf space being such a premium, and plastic model kits having all but disappeared from those stores, your best bet is hobby stores. If you have a Hobby Lobby around, they'll probably have it eventually. They carried the reissue 1/8 '85 IROC a couple of years ago, and most recently the latest incarnation of the 1/8 Big Deuce '32 Ford. I miss the days when department stores dedicated a whole aisle to plastic kits, much like Toys-R-Us used to do with diecast. :(

i don't know but it does look fun. I checked there website and it said nothing of it. so you can check ebay you might find one. if you can't send me some money for it and shiping and we might work something out

I actually wish they'd reissue the '78 and/or '82. Those have never been reissued, and I like C3's more than mid-years.

I've got one that I bought about 10 yrs ago.It's a 67 though with a 427 in it.Have yet to build it.It came molded in red.Big 1/8th scale.

I think you've got the 1/12th scale Monogram kit - that was a big block '67 coupe. The only 1/8 kits Corvette have been the '65, 78, '82, & '85.

No it's not 1/24.I'm sure of that.I'll double check the year when I get home.It's bigger than 1/18th.

The big-scale 427 '67 is 1/12-scale. Originally Monogram, now Revell. They seem to reissue it every few years, and it's a very nice kit. I've built many of them, and since I prefer Rally wheels, I usually replace the stock kit wheels with Rallies from the 1/12 '69 Camaro kit. 1/12 is a nice scale, since you can usually add more detail than a 1/24 or 1/25 models, and they don't take up as much display space as a 1/8.

My bad.I checked and it's a monogram 1/12 molded in red.

I had a chance to look at the new 1/8 65 Corvette kit. The body was nice and straight, with everything packed in the box real well. It was $65, at Hobby Island in Houston.

would anyone be interested in building a 66 roadster from the 1/8 scale kits (I have two) to match my 66 roadster - it would require scatchbuilding skills

It would take a @$?% load of scratch building time to do that. I built a conv. from the 65, and 1/2 way through sold it to someone here on this board. The back deck lid and wheels for year correct will have to be one off stuff. Either do it yourself or pay big bucks. I built a '67 BBC out of the 65 kit, and right now 2500.00 would not buy it. Scratch build Cragars and ralley wheels, 427 hood, 67 coves etc....

Yeah, converting one of these to a roadster is a tall order. You'd be looking at a hefty pricetag and a long build time. This 1/24 '64 started as a '65 that I backdated. Not nearly as much stratchbulding as converting to a roadster.
