MSD box inside car?
Does anyone have their MSD box mounted inside the car?
I’m planning on installing a MSD box and was wondering if any of you who mounted it inside the car are having problems. If I remember correctly there was someone who installed their unit under the passenger’s side dash, this is where I would like to install it. Pictures are always nice, Thanks. |
:yesnod: :yesnod: in glove box on a few

I've mounted mine behind the passanger dash panal. It will interfere with speakers up front, by getting static feedback. My radio is never turned on anyways, so it doesn't matter for me.

Well high up on the footwell is more like it. Can't see it unless you have your head on the seat. |
My Crane HI6 box is located behind the passenger dash also. I mounted it to the crossbar behind the panel. It has been there for 5 years now with no problem.

I also have mine under the passenger dash. This way it's out of the rain, heat, dirt, and yet easily accessable to change pills if needed.

Yep mine is under passenger dash but not exactly the same body style. No problems as far as function or malfunction... |
I have it inside the pass compartment to keep it cooler. Mine's setting on the passenger floor for the moment since I haven't fabbed up a bracket yet to mount it. I plan to have it mounted in sight so I can get to it easily.

My Crane HI6 was mounted inside the "gills" on the drivers side fender well. You can just barely see it from outside the car. Logic was that it would get lots of air flow, be right next tot he alternator and very near the distributor etc.
Not much dirt gets kicked up inside the gill so far. I just don't blast the hose there either. |
How about in the Stock amplifier location for the transister ignition...on the front of the left inner fender? I'll be tackling this job in the next week or two, so I've been considering possible locations.

i put mine on the firewall passenger side, mounted up high. Then I tried to close my hood, now it lives behind the passenger dash,

I mounted mine in the center storage compartment behind the seats. Close to the battery and temp seems fine. Been there 6 years now. :yesnod:

I have an ACCEL 300+ mounted on a custom bracket in the engine compartment but I am relocating it to the inside. It'll be either on the passenger side kick panel or more likely right between the seats on that bulkhead. I don't care if it's visible or not. In fact, I think it's kinda cool to have it showing.

I have 4 msd boxes mounted under the passengers dash along with a coil , a start solenoid and a bank of relays. I removed the heater, installed an aluminum plate and mounted alot of the components to this. Can't see any of it sitting in the seat.

The rubber bumper cars have the perfect place for it. There is a bracket that runs from the frame to the V of the front of the bumper. I took two 1/2 or 3/4 inch strips of aluminum, mounted the unit to it, bent the aluminum strips to go over the top of the bracket and bolted it to the bracket. Fits in there perfect with plenty of cooling air.
