Many of you have no doubt read my concerns about the surging idle problem that my 85 has and the steps that I have taken to correct it. New computer, EGR, EGR solenoid, tps, AIC, etc.. (see past write-ups). And I could not solve the problem. Well...........just to update you all, I let the car sit for 3 days. On the forth day, I started the car and "NO IDLE PROBLEM"! Its been a few days now and I have steady idle, no black smoke and the car runs like new. I think the car is possessed. After all it is devil red!

TX for all your help
Peter.

My 85 had the same idle surge problem many years ago (actually when the car was still in warranty). After many trips to the dealer, clean the TB stuff, they finally concluded it was the ecm. Once replaced the idle has been better but not where I think it should be - jumps around a bit, looking for a place to land, as it warms up. With the original problem, the car would also go into possessed mode - sometimes cutting out completely with no warning (fun when making those quick left turns in front of oncoming traffic). Anyway, glad to hear you've got it figured out - if not, take another look at your computer.
