I CHANGED THE FOG LAMPS ON MY '86 TO THE 50 WATT HALOGENS AND BLEW THE FUSE. IF I CHANGE THE FUSE AND UP THE AMPERAGE WILL THE WIRING BE O.K.? I READ ON THE FORUM AWHILE BACK THAT YOU CAN CHANGE THE BULBS AND THE WIRING WOULD BE O.K WITH THIS CHANGE BUT I WANT TO MAKE SURE. ANY SUGGESTIONS? ALSO, I SAW IN MID AMERICA A BULB REPLACEMENT THAT YOU CAN DO FOR THE REVERSE LIGHTS AS WELL. HAS ANYONE SEEN WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE? I AM WONDERING WHAT THIS BULB LOOKS LIKE CONSIDERING THAT THE 1156 AND A HALOGEN REPLACEMENT HAVE 2 DIFFERENT SOCKETS. LET ME KNOW IF YOU GUYS HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS.

Only go up 5 amps.

I have seen those high watt reverse bulbs, They have the correct base to fit in the 1156 socket. I also did the fog light mod, up the fuse by 5 Amps. Been running mine for a year with no problems, but I wish I could find a way to adjust them, my RH one is a little lower than the LH.

I don't know what current draw is for the OEM fog lights, but 2 50 watt lamps will draw
7 amps and the tail fuse is 10 amps. This leaves only an additional 3 amps for everything else on this circuit which is not enough. I think the wire size is safe for 2 50 watt foglamps, but I would install a 20 amp fuse. If that blows out, you will need to start looking for what is drawing the excess current.

Ok on an '86 if you changed to the 885 50W bulbs, you need to up the Taillamp fuse by 5 amps. http://www.corvetteforum.cc/ubb/smile.gif I think there is a 10 AMP in there by default, and you want to stick in a 15 AMP. (If I'm wrong, just add 5 to whatever is in there.)

I've been running this for months and months now with no trouble.

I put a 15 amp with no problems yet.

Thanks for the information! Are those reverse lamps available in the local parts stores or do I have to go through a Mid America? Thanks again for the help!!!!
