its a shunk....

well...ive done all the u-joints and wheel bearing on my 85....front and rear
recently ive been getting a SHUNK when i put it into reverse....
I almost sounds like a cue ball hitting the 8 ball....not a clunk but a shunk http://www.corvetteforum.cc/ubb/smile.gif
Could i have no fluid in the differential...ive notices some leaking, but it looks like its comming from the blow hole..the sound seems to be comming from the rear end..but im having a hard time finding exactly where the sound is because it only happens (usually) with the first gear move of the day...and when i go home from work...

thats is the only time it does it...i put it in drive...no shunk...can put it back into reverse...no shunk......any help is greatly appreciated..

My guess would be that is coming from the transmission. You should have a good trans shop check it out and see if you should live with it or fix it.
