Well, my head gasket change has evlolved, and now I am starting to add a little performance over my stock vette. What kind of a performance increase might I see with the following changes:

Ported/polished heads
Competition Valve Job
SLP Shorty Headers
Open Lid/K&N Filter
New plugs/Taylor wires

Will this give me a noticable SOTP increase over stock?

I should hope so, I NOTICED an increase with my air induction... so I'm quite sure you'll come out just fine...!

Let us know what you end up doing... I'm looking to having my heads done this winter...I'm eager to see some results...

Randy.

The right cam will do more for you than those mods. The heads will flow a lot more than required by the stock cam. Do the heads next, then the headers and the rest follow.

Actualy, I plan on changing the cam out next summer. I was in the process of doing a head gasket change, and figured while I had the heads off, I might as well get a valve job. The machinist is a friend of mine, and did some porting and polishing for me for free (not a bad deal!). As for the headers, My AIR tube pretty much welded itself to the old header, and when I tried to remove it, I left all the old threads on the manifold. I searched high and low for a machine shop that would have a tap to chase those threads, but couldnt find one. I tried to clear them myself with a scratch awl, but man, the stuff is in there hard, so I figured, what a good excuse to get new headers.. http://www.corvetteforum.cc/ubb/wink.gif Justification is always a good thing.

Everything looks good except the shorty headers. Your not going to see much if any hp improvement from them. Get some 1.6 roller rockers and consider AFR 190 or Canfield heads over machining the stock heads.

Good Luck... http://www.corvetteforum.cc/ubb/smile.gif

The stock heads are an EXCELENT head when properly ported by a competent porter. We have seen 400 RWHP many times on stock bottom ended LT1 and LT4 cars!
The only advantage the AFR head will give you is a thicker deck, which is nice if you are running ~18# of boost or 400 HP or Nitrous...
Canfield does not make the LTx head any more. There was just not enough interest and considering the HIGH quality of the LT1/4 heads, I can tell you why... http://www.corvetteforum.cc/ubb/smile.gif
Good Luck,
