Someone once told me that the LT1 motors in the Impala SS's and Camaro's were 2 bolt mains. Is this true, and does that also apply to the LS1's in Trans Ams and Camaro's?

Yeah, the Impalas and F-bodies have 2-bolt LT1s. Vettes have 4-bolt mains but they are not splayed.

All the LS1s (Vette and F-body) have 6-bolt mains, and I think they are splayed.

HTH!

Thanks Jason!

While on the subject does anyone know were a (new) 4 bolt main can be gotten for a 95 LT1.
Thanks

Your best bet would be to get the F-body LT1 block and put splayed 4-bolt main caps on it.
We use the Callies Billet main caps.

This is why I love this forum. Live and learn. I thought all LT1's were two bolts. In the book "All Corvettes are Red" they show a picture of a 6 bolt LS1 next to a 2 bolt LT1. I just presumed that was a Vette LT1 engine. Prior to seeing that picture I thought all LT1's were 4 bolts. that was obviously wrong too. Thanks.
