Auotmatic locking and unlocking door function won't work now?

I have a 96 corvette and the automatic door lock and unlock system quite working today.

In the past when I walked away from the vette the doors would lock and the horn would honk. Then if I got close to the vette with the key ring unit they would unlock, now none of this works.

Also, I can’t get the doors to lock or unlock by using the remote on the key ring device.

Is the locking and unlocking system fused? If so where?

What might have caused the automatic locking and unlocking feature to quite working?

Thanks,
JJ

Sounds like the remote has a dead battery.
If it wont even open the doors or hatch.

Replace the battery in the FOB and try again after reprogramming.

I don't think it's the battery in the remote as the remote will open the rear hatch, just not the doors.

It sounds like you accidentally turned off the auto door lock feature of the PKE. Stand next to the car with the door closed and hold the door lock button on the remote, until the door locks cycle. Then walk away and see if it works properly.

Have you tried holding the door unlock button on the PKE for a few seconds? Is it possible you just turned off the auto door lock feature?

What is the PKE? How do you turn the auto lock funtion on and off?

Should be in the manual, by what KY Vette is saying I think you just hold the button for a few seconds. :lurk:

If you just hold the button on the remote for a few seconds, you will hear the door locks cycle. My door locks click twice and then I let go of the button. Make sure you go through the whole cycle or you will have security problems. When I went to Nashville for the 50th, I must have not finished the door lock cycle because when I went to start my car the next morning, it wouldn't do anything. When I recycled the door locks, it started right up. Some tense moments but a lesson learned.

Sorry, I should have said FOB. Anyway did you get it to function yet? I've turned my auto door lock feature off accidentally, several times, just by holding the button a little too long. I just thought you may have done the same thing. Hope you got it working!

Will the doors lock and unlock from the switch on the door. If not, my 90 had another fuse behind the glove box. I know you have no glove box but it may be in the same area on the right side of the dash. That fixed my problem with the pwoer locks.

There are two fuses for the PKE. One is labeled "PKE" and the other is in series with one of the radio fuses (RDO). Not sure which one - check them both. Good luck. Mine still does not work..... :ack:
