Dyno numbers / times for a LPE 219 383ci?

My roomate decided tpo go w/ the LPE 219 cam for his '86 coupe.

See his mods here --->

'86 Z51 coupe
built 700R w/ 2400 stall
350 + .060
400crank
ported and polished LPE Super Ram
P/P base intake
1000cfm TB
Ported GM irom 2.02 valve heads
1 5/8 long tube headers
3.75 rear end
custom programed chip

What numbers are you guys getting?? What about 1/4 mile times?

I figure he's good for 425-450hpBHP and 475/500BTQ and low 12's/high 11's on 315 drag radials.

BOWTYE8 01-12-2005 08:26 PM

Very Close setup to what I was running back in the late 90's. I was getting 375 rwhp and 11.90's in the 1/4.
Your estiamte sounds good
Dennis

USAsOnlyWay 01-12-2005 08:37 PM

You were getting those #'s with stock ported heads?

Corvette0096 01-12-2005 08:39 PM

Almost the same setup that I'm running now..
I have no cage so I have to hit the brakes at the 1000' Mark. I went 11.82@100.02 MPH. With tire spin.

This year I would Imagin now that I can run it all the way out. I should be in the 11.5-6 Range.

New rule for roll cages are 11.49 this year. :yesnod:

383 with SR intake, AFR 190 heads, and 219 cam I was making 360 RWHP and 411 RWTQ. I ran 11.80's @118 consistently on street tires with a 6spd. This was in a 90 Coupe.

vader86 01-12-2005 11:10 PM

Lingenfelter shows dyno graphs for a SR/383/219 in his book, with ported 113 heads, gets about 440hp on the engine dyno, I forget the torque number.

I guess if those Iron heads flowed just as well, he's in that neighborhood.

USAsOnlyWay 01-12-2005 11:45 PM

Corey, looks like he's got mid-11s pegged!

So what are the flow numbers on ported 113s?
AFR 190s?
Instead of names and brands, lets talk numbers.

Thank you!

336rwhp & 363rwtq see sig.

Hey Dennis, Long time no see!

crheinish 01-13-2005 08:17 PM

LPE 219 is the right choice.

olman 01-14-2005 02:07 AM

Great numbers, according to my info they are out flowing AFR 190's by a little and about 20 more than TFS.

USAsOnlyWay 01-14-2005 04:04 AM

Olman, maybe I missed something, what exactly is out flowing AFR 190's and TFS's?
Thanks.

:skep:

You have to be very careful when getting flow numbers. If your having them ported by someone. you should get a baseline flow data off an independant bench - send them out for porting (you should get a sheet from them - take it with a grain of salt), then go back to the same independant bench you used before for REAL comparison).

Face it, the porter is not going to show you bad numbers.

Olman- I am interested in what heads you have that are outflowing the AFRs listed above, maybe we are assuming you mean outflowing these particular ones.

Anyways we did as I described above with our 227cc M2 T1 heads - and they barely broke the 300 barrier @ 307 - and these heads are known to be the best 23* heads on the market. So I am a little hesitant to believe a 19Xcc head could be close.

:lurk:

I,m refering to the flow numbers published by Chevy Hi Performance.

.200 144 115
.300 208 146
.400 244 176

.300 188 140

The numbers for the exhaust on the TFS are with pipes. Most of the heads for SBC are listed on the Chev Hi Performance website. I apologize that I misread the the charts posted. :o

Those #'s seem a little low. This is what the TFS site shows for their 23 degree heads.

NOTE: Tests conducted at 28" of water (pressure). CNC-profiled chambers.

My former car had a "bread and butter" Lingenfelter 383. 219 cam, ported and polished super ram, factory d ports "worked" 58mm throttle body 700 R/3.45 d44.

I always had a traction problem..but my car was a 100 percent street car...no shocks for draggin' no sway bars off etc.

The best I ran with it on a very worn set of bfg dr's was 11.80@120.2 mph.

The car NEVER saw a dyno of any kind(until recently, the new owner had it done.) The scoreboards at the end of the track are the most honest and the only one's I'd need to see. God rest His soul, John Lingenfelter said the same thing"What a car does on the chassis dyno, and what it does on the track can vary greatly"

JD,

Careful, what you say aloud in here with respect to dyno and their accuracy. Although I think its funny that Lingenfelter himself would share the same opion of dynos as we do. ;)
