You'll probably want some spacers for the rears, at least. When I bought the car, it had 1/4" spacers in the rear, and the wheels still looked tucked in and were rubbing on the parking brake cables....

Could just be smelling blowby gases being vented out the filter at the top of the MM can. They make a "road race" top that you can use to vent back into the intake, which would get rid of the smell.
