C5 wheels most definitely fit after moving the emergency brake clip. You need to use the big adapters and Loctite. 100lbs torque on the adapters and 80 lbs on the wheels.

If you have 18's on the back, they should probably stay there. That is the way Corvette put them on the C5.

You may want to look at bigger tires for the rear. I am currently using 275/40/18.
