Keep the temps down! I've seen a bunch of C4 gen go home at track days from heat. Usually head gasket. I did a lot of engine mods before cooling.

I did HPDE and NASA TT for years on the stock short block. Never had a problem with the pistons. Eventually spun a rod bearing. I did use a decent baffled oil pan.

Yes keep a few clean ones. Also it has helped me to wipe my eyes between sessions. Clean paper towel and water etc. I've had near blindness from sweat stinging eye so always try to remember.
