My memory of the install is a bit fuzzy. But you get the GM adapter and it plugs into the back of the head unit where the CD changer goes. When you want to use it select CD.

You could try the PAC aux2car iSimple conversion which converts the CD changer to a 3.5mm aux input. I put one in my car. Easy plug and play install.

The stock z06 wheel sizes are 17 front, 18 rear. To answer your question, smaller rims mean cheaper tires generally. Also drag racers want more sidewall. And I'm not a fan of chrome either.
