Re: Roots type blower for C5- From the FACTORY? (CORVETTE FOREVER)
I'm that second person that RK Sport called 3rdToy!!For letting Magnuson use my car for 3 weeks to design the intake manifold,I'll be getting a blower installed for free!! RK Sport is giving me a hood. Jerry Magnuson(the owner of Magnuson Products,) says that these blowers are designed for reliable, useable horespower, and to expect around 20hp/per lb of boost. 4lbs of boost x 20 hp= 80hp!!! Maybe not as big of a number as some would like to see,but since mine is on the house ,it's cool w/me!!I know Magnuson is working on a blower for C5's, I was almost the test car for the system, I missed out because I returned the phone call the next day, and the 2nd party they called drove right over. Check out the RKSport car that is at SEMA, the Magnuson blower is installed on that car. The car does have a custom high rise hood

  Sounds like a great deal! Good Luck. BOB
They're great pushing low amounts of boost But once you hit 9-10#, they produce LOTS of heat, and start thrashing the air.
But if you add a little 25 shot of NOS, it'll give you a nice intercooling effect. :)

Obviously I'm not the first to hear of this. I'm surprised there hasn't been more talk about it. I want one REAL bad. I'm going to have to sell a BUNCH of Frame Savers to pay for it , though! :D :D :D

Re: Roots type blower for C5- From the FACTORY? (Andy@AandACorvette)
Any new developments on this? Will this be available from GM performance products? or will it only go on whatever vehicles from the factory.VERY INTERESTED....
Re: Roots type blower for C5- From the FACTORY? (Andy@AandACorvette)
That looks very ! I wonder what it would do on a built motor?
I wonder how much boost you could actually make with this setup, the blower drive is - different. Looks like you've got a 6 rib belt pulley inline with the front belt, connected to a shaft driving an 8 rib pulley at the back, which drives the blower. Looks like the front belt will be the weak link for high boost.
If they get this out the door for $5K, with or without a hood, they'll make a fortune! :yesnod:
Re: Roots type blower for C5- From the FACTORY? (rschiltz)
I wonder how much boost you could safely run with this?
You could probably do 5-6 lbs of boost safely until you would have to lower the CR. Adding tons of boost too a high CR engine is not a good thing. Next thing you know you blow a seal or a head gasket or something else really bad.
Now, put on some 9.5 or even 8.5 ported heads, and crank that boost up! Make sure you always run the high octane gas tho :D
Re: Roots type blower for C5- From the FACTORY? (Andy@AandACorvette)
I talked with Jerry Magnuson today! This thing is definately coming our way. :D Jerry says that RK Sport is designing a hood much like their 1-1/2" rise hood except that it will not be a stock hood with an added rise. It will need to be molded so that the supercharger can tuck under it. Also, RK is designing some carbon fiber fuel rail covers so that the supercharger looks like it is growing out of them. He says that it is about 90 days out. Looks like we can run about 5lbs of boost on stock engine. This is good for about 100hp (not sure if rwhp or not). The unit will also come with a warranty. May be available in black and high polish. All in all, I'd say we finally have a real good value coming our way soon. Let's hope they keep it reasonable and don't decide to gouge us because we own Vettes. Only time will tell. My thought would be that Jerry is a heck of a guy and will keep the kit priced right.

Man, she helped me buy the Vette, I've got dinner on the table every night, and I never have to wash dishes! Heck, I'm not real sure ecactly where the kitchen is located.
