Sorry this is no answer to your question but a question.
Why wouldn't you build your LT4 into a monster? The reason I ask is it wont be cheep to drop in a LS and you are considering a LT as a swap.

I just want to make the vette depenable, the heads are toast and two pistons are bad. I think that the LS gets better gas mileage and the cool factor when you open the hood.I stoped racing the car and now drag race a GSX-R 750

Brickman, FWIW-I was just browsing through my 2007 Scoggin Dickey Performance Parts Catalog (pg. 5) and noticed:

"5.7 / 350CI LT4 Crate Engine (P/N: 12534776) New $3,195"
3 year/100,000 mile parts and labor warranty

Toll free (1-800-456-0211) [Click Here for site/info]

Hope this helps...

fits isn't quite the word I was thinking... more like, everything you like about the 96 would be effected or gone - ASR, IP, ABS, AC, Stereo... it would not be pretty.

You might want to check with Chris (I think he's here as 69myway?). He has an Lsx converted C4 that was featured at Carlisle. I've seen it personally and it looks factory

He said it performed almost flawlessly on it's maide voyage from Lakeland, Fl. to Carlisle, Pa and back

Has full ac, I believe sound, cruise control, etc. There's no reason to lose any of the creature comforts over the swap.

Besides, so many have done it now that it's becoming less challenging (write ups, step by step manuals, etc).

For my $$ that's what I'm considering for my install when the L98 takes a dump.

Big difference between a 85 computer and a 96.

LT1 will work better with your existing setup. LS1 will cost more to install. If it were me I would use this as an excuse to install a 383.

I think Chris went with a painless system? Either way, either switch to the later model or go the painless route.

READ THIS:

Jeff and I have been tap dancing around this... but here goes nothing:

The 1990-1996 Corvette is equipped with this thing called a CCM - Central Control Module. It's a brain and a traffic cop to control the exchange of information between the PCM and ABS/ASR computer (the EBCM). Without the CCM, the dash IP, and the ABS/ASR are rendered No Op. It could also negatively effect the audio and AC systems.

There are no Painless solutions for this. The newer PCM to control the LSx mtors do NOT talk to the older CCM. Or, for that matter, the older ASR.

You have been warned.

No need to tap dance, just come out and say it

For some reason, I was thinking older rather than later C4. Sorry.

Question for the 2 of you though? Couldn't you keep the CCM for the information panel, ABS/ASR and run the PCM for the LS to control the engine functions? Or, go to an analog dash, ditch the CCM for other than the ABS/ASR function and go strictly with the PCM for the engine?

Just andother stupid question from someone trying to figure out auto electronics

Thanks

The 1996 PCM uses the old school Serial Data Line to send info back and forth amongst the various components.

In 1997, with the LSx, they changed all that... how, I don't know.

I do know, tho, that the VSS used on LSx equipped cars is different than the VSS used on the C4. It isn't going to work the same... IIRC, it run 2 pulses per revolution, and would need a doubler to allow the speedo to work right, but that is all moot, because with the CCM dead, the speedo won't work at all!

I've got a bare block I've been thinking about building out. But you could do the same from Golen.
