RPO MM6 vs MN6
MM6 - Transmission, Manual 6-Speed, Borg Warner
MN6 - Merchandised Transmission, Manual 6-Speed Provisions
Just from they way they are described it seems like I have two tranny's
What do these really mean? Is MN6 the interior code for say the clutch pedal and manual shifter, and the other is for the drivetrain. Or do I have a upgraded transmission?
Thanks
Troy
MN6=code for manual transmission vehicle
MN6 means your vehicle is equipped with a manual transmission.
MM6 is the type of transmission your vehicle has
And for A4s:
MX0=code for automatic transmission vehicle
M30=Transmission, Automatic, 4-speed, 4L60-E, Electronic
MM6=Borg Warner T56 Transmission
M12 = Borg Warner T56 Transmission (Z06 ratios)
MN6=code for manual transmission vehicle
ALL Manual C5 Corvettes come down the production line with code MN6, as that tells the factory to install clutch pedal, console for a manual shift, wiring harness, whatever ..... and coupe's and convertibles have code MM6 for their transmission, the Z06 has code M12 for its transmission.
The MX0 code for the automatics puts a different console and shift set-up in the car, a different brake pedal and no clutch or clutch hydraulics installed, etc. The MX0 and MN6 codes may apply to changes to the PCM software, radiator installation of a an auto trans cooler and line ... it is not just "cabin" items that can be tied to the installation codes.

Now the million doolar question. Do FRC's or Z06's have the MN6 code? They were all 6 speed cars......
