Default which holley carb sould go with

hi I started a post about hood clearest problems acouple weeks a go. I have a edelbrock carb, with electric choke, its not going to work for me. even with a spacer. so ended up buying a 2" drop base from a 68-72 lt1, looks like it works with a holley carb what are my choices, electric choke air horn ect. oh buy the way I have sb 350 stock. thanks.

I am running a Holley 4175 650 cfm spreadbore that is a Qjet replacement carb. Electric choke. Sitting on the factory aluminum intake and still using the dual snorkel setup on my 350. No clearance issues.....

I agree with the last post, a holley 650 is great for a 350ci. If your engine is a little built, ie: headers, intake, cam, go for a standard 4150 with electric choke, and stick with a vac. sec. if your in an automatic.
good luck!

more than likely a 2inch drop base will rub on a holleys choke horn. but if you go to a 3 inch air cleaner you will not clear the hood. do yourself a favour and just get a demon.

Gingerbread man from what I can see the demon carb, comes with electric choke and air horn, also with mechanical secondaries, now if a went with the electric choke would the air horn be hitting on the bottom of the drop base, for that matter it be hitting on the holley air horn to, if I only had one to try my 68-70 lt1 drop base.

you can get the demon with no choke. my mate has a holley and his rubs on the drop base air cleaner. same problem if he goes 3 inch he cant get under the hood. thats why i suggested demon.

If you have decided on a Holley, and not the stock Q-jet, I would go with the 650 CFM, model 4165, list 6210 for a 1971 model. The 6210 has a divorced choke, as did the original Q-jet on your 71 model.
Several members have the 6210. It is a direct replacement for the Q-jet. Thestock air cleaner will fit also.

Default Holley 6210

I first used the Holley 6210 650 spreadbore in 1974 on my 70 350/300 coupe. I used the original dual snorkel air cleaner with this installation. About 15 years ago installed the ZZ engine and today still using the Holley 4777 650 square bore on the ZZ's aluminum intake. Had to use the original AC Delco drop base open element air cleaner because the aluminum intake carburator bse mounting is higher. No hood clearance problems, but there is not much room left between the air cleaner and hood.

Mine is a 3" air cleaner and clears everything.

I'm running a 4175 as well. You should like that carb once you get it dialed in.

Default 4165/6210 Holley

I have a 454 HP with the replacement Holley 4165/6210 and am having trouble with a couple of things.

1) I had to buy a spacer to raise the air cleaner pan high enough to fit and when I get the engine in the car, I will probably have trouble with clearance. Any suggestions. The Holley instructions say to cut the pipe, plug it and use a plastic attachment (that is now no longer available).

2) I don't plan on using the TCS solenoid or switch that use to be on this motor. I need instructions/picture of the correct hookup of all the vacuum lines for the carburator and which ones I can safely plug. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks!
