Clunk, right rear in my '08
Also, did you check to make sure your tunnel plate bolts are tight?
Just grasping at straws trying to help. It is maddening. Wishing you luck.

In addition to every other suspension nut I've re-torqued, today I re-tightened the axles nuts, lubed the bottom of the rear leaf bump-stops, tightened the caliper bracket bolts, rear tie rod ends and upper A-arm ball joint, tightened exhaust clamps, tie wrapped several loose cables, put a piece of hose around the tranny cooler line as it was almost touching a bolt where the tranny and torque tube meet. Lubed the anti sway bar bushings.
NOTHING....STILL DOING IT.
The easiest way for me to duplicate this now is to go over a speed bump fairly slow and at an angle. The side to side motion causes the thumping/bumping noise.
This is such a PITA.
. Since it got worse it has something to do with what I touched yesterday so I guess thats a start.
I bought Poly bushings from Ecklers (cheap) and they were silent from then on. No problem.
Dunno why the factory bushings were quiet until I replaced them with the other factory bushings for a C5z but it is what it is...and it's a common problem with C5's.
Did you replace your sway bar? If so, get some poly bushings for $15!

Hmmmm........
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Gonna have to find some time (PITA) to leave the car at the dealer for several days while they tear my car apart
searching for the mystery noise.
So (can't help myself, 2 cents) it happens taking a speed bump at an angle for sure, thus the front wheels are turned; what about straight over said bump, same or no?
Well, good luck, glad you've got a warranty, I can't imagine the carte blanche bill a dealer would run up otherwise.

How you managed to need it in 6K miles... do you drive sideways or somethin?? Congrats.
Glad you got it figured out.
I've got a mystery noise that I'm convinced is in the RR. I've had the wheel off several times looking for the source- I'm thinking clutchpacks in the diff, but I guess I'll pull the sway links and do a test.
Great thread- very helpful. THANKS!

Yeah, when the dealer called and said it was the front end link (that I knew was bad but thought it could have nothing to do with it) I thought they were blowing smoke up my a$$. The acoustics in the cabin can definitely create ventriloquist noises.

MachSilver08 - Great to hear it's solved! I'm sure the last annoying noise in my 07 is the same. Going to check it out now.
Thanks
I diagnosed the noise as being the stabilizer bar end links, but learned a bit along the way.
At first, I disconnected the right side link from the lower connecting point (easier to unbolt than the upper) and ty-wrapped it to the bar. On the test drive I found out that it makes a lot of noise, since the remaining connection on the stabilizer bar can jiggle it quite a bit.
I then disconnected the other link at its lower point, ty-wrapped that link and pushed the bar up and out of the way. Now I'm test driving it with no stabilizer bar connection. THE NOISE IS GONE!
More observations:
1. - On my 07, in order to un-bolt the link, you need to insert a "Star" wrench in the bolt to hold it, NOT an Allen key (although that may work), then remove the nut with a 11/16" box end or open end wrench. They were not loose to start.
2. - It only required a pound or so to move the stabilizer bar in the center rubber bushings, so I don't think that would ever be a source of noise.
3. - When I re-installed the stabilizer bar, the noise did NOT come back. I believe this is because the bolt portion, of the links, is part of the ball joint itself and it rotates when re-installing. The ball part probably ended up in a position with less wear and less play. I'll bet the noise will return in time.
This test is fairly easy to do and will certainly test for stabilizer link noise. I plan to try to get the dealer to replace them.
Hope this helps.
The local dealer replaced the two front stabilizer bar links.
THAT CURED THE PROBLEM! The Vette is now quiet. At least no "annoying" noises.

To my experience, I'll sum up the 3 annoying noises.
1. - Targa top squeek - Grease front latch rollers.
2. - Rear end clunk - Use Amsoil and their friction modifier.
3. - Front clicking/snapping - Replace front stabilizer bar links.
It's nice not to have all those random noises.
