Default Wiring SPAL fans

I just got my new Dewitt radiator with dual SPAL fans. Do I hook both gray wires up to the thermostat on the radiator?

Like I was saying in the PM I use this diagram. Essentially each fan gets it's own relay. The fans are grounded to the frame, and the power wires go to the relays. Each relay is triggered by an IGN or ACC source, and each gets it's power from the starter where you have a direct connection to the battery. The only difference is that one fan is always on, meaning the relay has a constant ground so whenever the IGN is on the fan runs. The other fan has a switch, a T-stat switch, that is the ground for the second relay. The switch is an open ground meaning the circuit is broken, unless the water temp reached 185 degrees. Then the switch closes the ground, making the circuit for that relay, to power the second fan. It continues to run until the switch sees the temp back down to 165.

Be sure your radiator is grounded, if not run a ground strap

Listen to all these guys 'cause this topic will continue to resurface....

DB has a very good diagram and logic for practical wiring, that's how I did mine (safety first!)

Also the posts on grounding are important too.

Good luck!
