C6 Corvette ZR1 & Z06General info about GM’s Corvette Supercar, LS9 Corvette Technical Info, Performance Upgrades, Suspension Setup for Street or Track
1. Get some real seats...for crying out loud...the Z is a true sports car. Or at least give a couple of options. New Viper seats make ours look so freakin' outdated.
2. Steering wheel...it can't be possible that a freakin' Cobalt has a better steering wheel...this really is beyond me.
3. Get rid of heated seats, heads up display, satellite, on star and all that unusable stuff...
4. Offer a couple of wheel options along with some real tires.
Make the car lighter...
1. Magnetic ride suspension from the ZR1. I really dislike the axle hop on the Z06 and some of the other handling traits. This alone would most likely make me get a 2010.
The only other change/option I would really like but realize it will never happen is an optional 3:73 or 3:90 rear end.
better leather. for a 75k car it feels and looks incredibly cheap on the inside.
You think the 3LZ interior looks incredibly cheap? I think the 3LZ looks very good. Please give us examples of a $75k car that does not have something on it that is cheap.
seats - recaro seats as optional kit for quick changes for track days
stereo - ditch the crap bose and go alpine or JL (how does bose get these contracts anyway, they really really suck )
all of these can be done without much R&D.
i absolutely love the 3LZ, the seats are actually pretty good for daily driving, and the steering wheel is not THAT bad. havent really played w/ the navi, but the onstar has the disable feature in the event of theft which can come in handy. and for the guys knockin run flats, i would hate to lug around a spare, for me its worth the weight and space savings.
Seats are pittyful, My Honda Accord has better seats.
Stearing wheel looks like it came off a cavalier.
1 piece brake pads .
better quality interior leather.
Some air vents on the hood for the z06 like the viper has. Make it look differant than the coupe model.
The 08 Honda Accord for 24 grand has much better leather and the conveniences are much better.
McCain has more time in a POW Camp than Obama has in the Senate.

the interior as a whole looks the same with or without the 3lz pkg. all it is, is leather on the tops of the doors and the dash. it doesnt make the steering wheel anything less than crap (its the same on as in the pontiac torent!) seats that suck (take a page from holden, the GTO had the best interior GM has ever put in a sports car) a center stack with supid flat black plastic surrounded by cheesey fake carbon fiber. do you need more?
and i agree, who is the stupido at GM that decided that a summer only car needed heated seats? WTF!

-Trans ratios same as Z-51 - 2000 RPM in 6th is 80 mph, not 90 mph as in the Z06, or a 3:73 rear end. In a 65mph state, 6th gear in Z06 is virtually unusable
-Wheels and Michelin PS2's from ZR1
-Track Day brake package
-Better seats - take a look at the Nissan GT-R
-Same clutch as ZR1
-Shocks/suspension from ZR1

What in the hell are you on? 6th is a great cruising gear from 45MPH and up...
Can't use same clutch as ZR1, something about spline count?
Really just would like an "R" or "ACR" variant... 2700 lbs proper seats adjustable suspension huge aero and crazy tires.
optional recaro seats like in the 2009 CTS-V
custom high quality interior options like Porsche does
sportier steering wheel
Optional NON runflat tires
Totally agree with this^.
Ditch the fake carbon-look interior trim for something more realistic. Maybe partner up with Apsis? Lose the "puffy" look of the seats. Also, redesign the side mirrors so they match the car, not the car from a generation ago; an edgier design like the Camaro's is a step in the right direction.
Regarding cost, GM should be thinking long-term and increasing market-share. For every potential Corvette customer who balks at a high-quality interior option, there will be plenty of Porsche and BMW customers (not just here, but in other countries) who would seriously consider the option. But as of right now, they just can't get past the interior.

on the gearing, it's great.
The ZR1 Clutch has different splines plus the pressure plate requires the ZR1 flywheel to bolt to, and that flywheel has a different bolt pattern to the crank than the Z06. In other words, can't be done.
I solved the seat problem by installing 3LT C6 seats in my Z which have lumbar and side bolster support .
