You picked the wrong week to come down. It's been raining every day this week and it's suppose to rain up until Thursday next week.
I'm in Sarasota, FL area this week on business and I too rented a Mustang.
I'm in S. Florida and I'm an idiot in a Mustang too! I'm hoping to pick up a C5 in the next few months so I've been lurking here for the most part.
Where in Florida are you going to be? If you are in the Boca or Ft. Lauderdale area there's some good eats places I can point you to and I'd be happy to break bread with you. BTW if you're in S. Florida you must take an airboat ride!
I think we've got a hurricane scheduled for that week. Don't stick your hand out too far from the window, otherwise you'll be airborne and get swept away, LOL...
We have had rain for the last 8 or 9 days now (but we needed it), but it is supposed to improve for the weekend. I am in the Tampa Bay area, but you will enjoy the Keys. If you end up at Key West make sure you go to Mallory Square for the sunset. Some of the best in the world.
i'm in the ft lauderdale area also. if you find yourself in that area on friday evening, try to stop over at the tower shops on university drive just south of rt 595. we have the longest continuously running cruise in in south florida going every friday evening. on a good night there will be between 200-300 cars of all types (yes including corvettes, lol). most start to arrive shortly after 6pm and the "show" lasts until 10 when the lot is cleared. you will see everything from classics and street rods to muscle cars and new dodge challengers, lol.
our club (non corvette specific, but with about 1/2 dozen old and new vettes plus just about everything else) is camped out just infront of the corvette parking area. you will usually find my C5 CE vert and at least 1 custom PT cruisers among those parked in our are. come on over and introduce yourself. ask anyone in that area to point you toward the "cruisers" and ask for steve. i'd love to say hello to you and show you around if you'd like.
